章節 2: Chapter 2: Sometimes dead are more useful

[Reward Acquired—Perception Ninjutsu]

[First-time Completion of Teaching, Reward Acquired—Appraisal Technique]

[First-time Completion of A-Rank Teaching, Reward Acquired—Mastery of Fire Release Chakra Nature Transformation]

Receiving three rewards at once surprised Rei a bit. He felt a sudden influx of memories, the most prominent being those related to the training of Fire Release Chakra Nature Transformation.

These memories felt incredibly real, giving Rei the illusion that he had been a veteran ninja specializing in Fire Release for a lifetime.

"Rei-sensei, can I ask you a question?" Shisui asked respectfully.

Hearing Shisui's question, Rei, who was about to recheck his panel evaluation, stopped and led Shisui to the back of the deserted school building. He then used perception ninjutsu to check, ensuring there were no particularly strong chakra presences around.

Rei felt relieved and smiled, "Is it the part of the lesson you didn't understand? Go ahead."

Shisui shook his head, "It's not about the lesson content. I have another query. Sensei, you know that the Senju Clan and the Uchiha Clan co-founded Konoha, right? So why does everyone only remember the Senju Clan and rarely mention the contributions of the Uchiha?"

Although he was just a child, Shisui was particularly mature and sensitive. When he went out with his elders, he could sense the strange looks people gave them upon seeing the clan emblem on their backs.

Clearly, both clans were founding heroes of the village. So why was the Uchiha Clan not only unrecognized for their contributions but seemingly disliked by the villagers? Shisui couldn't understand.

Seeing the puzzled look on Shisui's face, Rei silently remarked to himself, "Senju Hashirama's reputation in Konoha versus Uchiha Madara's reputation in Konoha—can they really be compared?"

"You've only read some internal clan history, haven't you?" Rei asked.

Shisui nodded since the history he could access was limited to what the Uchiha provided.

"The current situation is the result of many events, and it's hard to explain in a short time," Rei said, looking slightly troubled.

Seeing Rei's troubled expression, Shisui felt guilty, realizing this question was more complex than he had imagined. He was about to let it go when Rei spoke again.

"Well, if you have time after school, come find me. I'll explain this history to you," Rei sighed. "After all, I do owe your Uchiha Clan a favor. Consider it as repaying that debt."

Shisui was puzzled by how Rei owed the Uchiha Clan a favor, so he asked directly.

"My parents were surrounded by enemies in a war and were saved by a ninja named Uchiha Kagami. Although they eventually died in the subsequent battles, I have always remembered the favor of saving their lives," Rei said with a look of gratitude, making up a story on the spot.

At this moment, he was thankful that his original body had long been an orphan; otherwise, his ability to make up stories would be much more limited.

He had to admit that sometimes dead people were more useful than the living.

On the other hand, Shisui's eyes widened in disbelief, and an expression of astonishment appeared on his face. Uchiha Kagami was his grandfather. He hadn't expected that he and Rei had such a connection, and it gave him a very peculiar feeling.

However, Shisui wasn't the type to demand repayment for a favor, so he didn't make a fuss about it and simply thanked Rei.

Before Shisui left, Rei used the Appraisal Technique on him.

[Name: Uchiha Shisui]

[Chakra: 500]

[Potential: SS-]

[Evaluation: Six Paths Bloodline, highly suitable for training in Fire Release and Genjutsu, immense potential, recommended for apprenticeship]

As Rei walked back to his office, he marveled at Shisui's abilities. "As expected of someone who can activate Susanoo with just one eye. Those two shiny S's are really dazzling; even the system recommends taking him as an apprentice."

Rei then casually opened his own panel to check if there were any changes in his evaluation.

[Name: Hanyu Rei]

[Age: 18]

[Chakra: 4300]

[Evaluation: Mastery in Fire Release Chakra Nature Transformation. Your limited chakra is what restricts your power. If you can overcome this shortcoming, you will be considered an elite among the Jonin.]

"It seems that the mastery of Fire Release Nature Transformation is even stronger than I imagined," Rei thought. "I might have underestimated the value of the word 'mastery'."

He initially thought it might be equivalent to an ordinary Jonin's knowledge of nature transformation. But now, in terms of Fire Release Chakra Nature Transformation alone, he might already be on the same level as the Third Hokage.

After all, other than two Fire Release techniques, he only knew the Body Flicker Technique, the Clone Technique, and some basic Taijutsu. However, with the reward and increased chakra, he could reach the level of an elite Jonin.

Elite Jonin should be on par with characters like Kakashi and Asuma at the beginning of the series.

Although Rei was initially thrilled by his significant power increase, the thought of his association with Root dampened his spirits.

Firstly, the curse seal from Root on his body made him feel insecure. Secondly, Danzo's tendency to send his subordinates on dangerous missions made him feel even less secure.

"I need to quickly take on some disciples and increase my strength as soon as possible. Even if I can't reach the level where I can kill Danzo and leave unscathed, I need to have the ability to protect myself," Rei set a short-term goal for himself.

Rei walked into the office and found three other teachers, two men and one woman, sitting there and complaining about their students.

Rei knew them all because, as a teacher who arrived earlier, he had already met his colleagues.

He casually used the Appraisal Technique on each of them.

[Name: Ikegami Yu]

[Chakra: 2000]

[Potential: C]

[Evaluation: Just another Chunin cannon fodder]

The data for the three teachers were similar; they were all evaluated by the system as cannon fodder.

"Ah, I'm really unlucky. How did Class 4-2 end up in my hands? I already have Class 3-1," Ikegami Yu said, spreading his hands helplessly. "How am I supposed to teach them? Both Might Guy and Uchiha Obito, the two biggest slackers, are in Class 4-2.

My family arranged a blind date for me and wants me to meet the person tomorrow afternoon, but I have a class with 4-2 at that time."

"Then find a teacher who doesn't have a class to help you out, or just take leave. The blind date is more important," Ueda Aya suggested.

At this moment, Ueda Aya noticed Rei entering and greeted him with a smile, "Rei-sensei, how did your first class go? Did the little tips I gave you help?"

Rei recalled how this enthusiastic female teacher had worried that, as a new teacher, he might be nervous in his first class. She had advised him to silently chant "radish and cabbage" to calm himself while teaching.

Rei politely replied, "Thank you. The tips were very helpful, although, after class, the students all advised me not to be picky with my food."

"Haha, Rei-sensei, you're really funny," Ueda Aya laughed, thinking that Rei's light-hearted joke meant he had comfortably gotten through his first class.

"Ikegami-sensei, I don't have any classes tomorrow afternoon. If you need, I can cover for you," Rei said as he placed his lesson plan on his desk, acting like a helpful colleague.

Unlike other teachers, Rei would love to have a full schedule every day. Plus, with Obito and Might Guy in Class 4-2, he definitely wanted to observe them.

Ikegami Yu's face lit up with joy. He quickly thanked Rei and promised to treat him to a meal someday.

In the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi, looked at the crystal ball, watching Rei seriously discuss the Will of Fire. Stroking his goatee, he thought that this young member of Root seemed promising and understood the Will of Fire.

Danzo thought he had hidden it well, but in reality, the Third Hokage was already aware of some ninjas cultivated by Root but not listed officially.

However, the Third Hokage considered that Danzo was somewhat contributing to Konoha's strength, and as long as it wasn't excessive, he let it be.

But when it came to the Ninja Academy, the Third Hokage was quite attentive. He decided to personally check it out, and to his surprise, Rei's first lesson was about the Will of Fire, instilling a sense of responsibility in the students. This made the Third Hokage very pleased.

"Let's observe his future performance. If he proves to be a talent, we should consider detaching him from Root."

Rei's current performance alone wasn't enough for the Third Hokage to negotiate with Danzo for his transfer.

Although, technically, Danzo's subordinates also fell under his jurisdiction, he still had to consider his old friend's feelings.

With that thought, the Third Hokage stopped the Telescope Technique and resumed processing documents, planning to inspect Konoha again in the evening.

---

After dinner, Shisui went to find Rei's residence according to the directions he was given.

Rei's home was located in the sparsely built southeastern part of Konoha, considered a remote area far from the main city.

Thanks to the fewer buildings, Shisui quickly found Rei's house, a single-story wooden house in a simple yard.

As soon as Shisui entered the yard, he was stunned by the astonishing scene before him.
