章節 3: the world is really f*cked up...

"HAHAHAHAHAHA!! THAT BIG GUY REALLY SHOWED YOU WHO'S BOSS!" The shadowy figure before me laughed uncontrollably, holding his stomach as if the joke were just too much to bear.

I rubbed my forehead, tuning out the echoing laughter that seemed to come from all directions. It was no surprise that the Hulk had caused such a ruckus. "Hey, what about the explosion? What happened there?"

"Oh, right. You're still processing your hibernation wake-up," the figure—more a collection of shadows with crimson eyes—explained. "I just wanted to have a little chat while you were still groggy."

"Well, what's on your mind, then?" I asked, curious about this mysterious entity.

"You can call me Dracul," he said.

"Okay, Dracul... What's this all about?" I pressed.

"Well, you're going to need more skills, and there are several to unlock," he began. "You already have control over shadows, a very useful ability. Most of the skills you'll acquire will be incredibly powerful and advantageous for your journey through this dead—or nearly dead—world."

Intrigued, I asked, "What kind of skills are we talking about here?" Although I had a good idea of the immense power I possessed, Alucard from Hellsing, a character with absurd potential.

Dracul's eyes gleamed. "I think you know. Devouring. The more you devour—heroes, villains, people, children, old people—the stronger you'll become. It's the key to unlocking your full potential." A wide smile spread across his shadowy face, revealing sharp teeth.

"Okay, I just wanted to give you a heads-up about the whole soul-collecting thing," Dracul said, his smile fading slightly. "Be careful out there, especially as your power grows. Souls might not be an issue for now, but once you reach cosmic levels or something akin to that, an absurdly powerful being might come knocking. A real pain in the ass, if you ask me." He paused, his eyes gleaming with a mixture of mischief and concern. "Anyway, enjoy your new life, Lucius. Stay sharp!"

With a snap of his fingers, my vision blurred, and I felt myself sinking into darkness once more. A sense of drowsiness washed over me, and I closed my eyes, surrendering to the encroaching sleep.

--

I awoke with a slight soreness throughout my body, but the pain quickly subsided. I slowly opened my eyes, and the night sky above me immediately captured my attention. I wondered how long I had been asleep.

I climbed out from under the debris that had shielded me from the blast, finding myself in a massive crater—evidence of a nuclear explosion or something of similar magnitude.

"I bet it was Tony," I muttered, a wry smile playing at the corners of my lips. Either it was him, the government, or some other entity with access to such destructive capabilities.

As I stood there, a strange sensation washed over me. I turned my head, curious about the source of the feeling, and was met with an astonishing sight. Extending from my shoulders were large, misshapen wings crafted from shadows. They pulsated slowly, their shape shifting and undulating erratically, as if they had a life of their own.

"Well, this is new," I said, a hint of excitement in my voice. I crouched down and inhaled slowly, focusing my attention on the ground beneath me. With a squeeze of my legs, I channeled my strength, and a large crack appeared in the earth.

I leaped into the air, my shadowy wings flapping instinctively to keep me aloft. I soared higher, feeling the wind on my face. "So, this is what flying feels like," I said, a grin spreading across my face. "It's pretty damn cool."

From my vantage point, I could see the full extent of the destruction caused by the bomb—a massive crater spanning several kilometers. "Holy shit..." I muttered, taking in the rubble, ashes, and dust that blanketed the area.

Ignoring the devastation, I decided to set off in search of new places. "Maybe I'll go somewhere far away," I mused, a spark of excitement in my eyes. "A change of scenery is definitely in order."

A smile played at the corners of my mouth as I contemplated my next move. "Indeed, a new hunting spot sounds ideal. Everyone here is... well, dead. There's nothing left to keep me entertained." I chuckled.

Nick Fury stood in front of a massive cage, its walls constructed from reinforced bulletproof glass designed to withstand even missile attacks. Within the cage lay a fallen hero, a symbol of hope and strength—Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America.

Fury's gaze was fixed on the broken figure before him as he muttered, "So this is how it ended for you, Cap..." He watched as Steve Rogers, once a proud and mighty warrior, now lay on the ground, clutching his head in agony. The sound of Rogers' screams was mercifully contained within the cage, but Fury could see the raw pain etched on his face. A portion of his iconic mask was shattered, revealing decomposing flesh and the ravaged remnants of what was once a symbol of heroism.

Fury sighed heavily as he surveyed the tragic scene before him, his mind racing with questions. "What the hell could have led to this...?" He ran a hand over his mouth, deep in thought, trying to piece together the events that had transpired. Suddenly, a soft but distinct sound emanated from his ear, indicating an incoming transmission. He tapped his ear, activating the communication device. "Coulson, were you able to extract Natasha and Barton?"

The response that came through startled him. "Sir!! New York!! It was bombed with a weapon comparable to a nuclear device!!" Fury's eyes widened in shock. "A nuclear weapon!? Are you sure?"

Fury's mind began to work furiously, considering the implications and searching for answers. The scale of the attack suggested an incredibly intelligent and dangerous adversary.

"Coulson, where are your current coordinates?" Fury asked, his voice tense. "Sir, we're just outside New York. Agent Romanoff, Agent Barton, and I managed to escape the blast, but our helicopter was caught in the explosion's shockwave. We're in a forest, and the helicopter is destroyed. Fortunately, we were able to bail out before it crashed," Coulson explained, his voice strained.

Fury rubbed his forehead, the weight of the situation evident in his weary expression. "Okay, send me your location. I'll dispatch a team to extract you. Stay vigilant and don't underestimate the enemy. Whatever is happening is occurring simultaneously in multiple locations worldwide," he instructed, his voice laced with concern and determination.

"Yes, sir—" coulson's words were abruptly cut off as the transmission devolved into static. "Coulson? Coulson?!" Fury shouted into the communicator, his voice filled with concern and urgency. The blaring alarms added to the chaos of the moment. Fury clenched his fist, his frustration and anger evident. "Who the hell is behind all of this?!"

The sound of gunfire and explosions outside the room snapped Fury back to the present. He took a moment to calm himself, then approached a wall and placed his open palm on it. The wall responded by sliding open, revealing a hidden arsenal of firearms.

Fury armed himself with a shotgun and a pistol, reloading them with fresh magazines. His expression hardened as he resolved, "I will not go down without a fight."

Suddenly, the door to the room was violently torn from its hinges and sent crashing into the wall, sending clouds of dust into the room, along with the pungent scent of blood.

"Fury... so this is where you've been hiding. It was a bit of a challenge to track you down, I must admit. Quite irritating, really," a robotic voice spoke from within the cloud of dust. Fury clicked his tongue in annoyance and recognition. "So, it's you, Stark. You've become one of those things..."

"Things...?" The robotic voice, unmistakably Tony Stark's, echoed through the room. "No, no, I feel better than ever. Stronger, smarter, more... free. The taste of meat, the sensation of blood—it's like a heavenly elixir. I've become a better me, an improved Tony Stark..." Tony's armored figure slowly emerged from the dissipating dust, his iconic red and gold armor now augmented with robotic enhancements. The exposed organs on his chest were gone, replaced by sleek mechanical components, and his once-dismembered arm had been replaced with a sophisticated robotic prosthesis.

Fury, shotgun in hand, stared intently at Tony and replied, "No, you didn't improve. You became a monster—a being that must be eradicated. The Tony Stark I knew is gone forever, and it's my duty to end the existence of the Tony Stark that stands before me." Fury's determination was evident, even in the face of the formidable adversary before him. "Even if it costs me my life, I will put an end to you, undead."

Tony Stark's voice took on a sarcastic tone as he floated slowly in the air, his armor gleaming in the dim light of the room. "Well, feel free to try, but Tony Stark is not a horrible being. Tony Stark always strives for improvement..."

Fury acted swiftly, taking aim at Tony and pulling the trigger. The bullet struck Tony, but he merely flinched, unphased by the attack. Fury clicked his tongue in annoyance and nimbly dodged the incoming blaster fire from Tony. Without hesitation, Tony propelled himself forward with a burst of speed, but Fury agilely sidestepped the tackle and dashed through the doorway, putting distance between them.

As he sprinted down the hallway, Fury passed the lifeless bodies of his fallen agents. He reached into his pocket and retrieved a pen-shaped device, a smile forming on his face. "Time to test this out," he muttered. With a forceful squeeze, the pen shattered, triggering an explosion in the room where he and Tony had faced off.

The force of the blast sent a shockwave ripping through the hallway, knocking Fury off his feet. He quickly regained his footing and continued his escape, his gaze falling upon the gruesome scene of decapitated and headless corpses. As he ran, his eyes landed on a particular body with a large gash across the chest, as if it had been sliced by three sharp claws.

"FURY?!" Stark's scream reverberated through the halls, spurring Fury to break into a full sprint. However, he abruptly halted upon encountering a short, a figure in a yellow suit standing in the hallway ahead. The man's face was mutilated, with a large cut exposing his teeth in a macabre grin.

"You..." Fury growled, his grip tightening on his gun.

"Hello... bub," the figure rasped, his voice echoing eerily through the flickering lights of the hallway. Fury recognized the man as wolverine, his eyes narrowing in determination.

"Fury, Fury," Stark's voice taunted, "Did you really think I'd come alone? It's always wise to bring companions, especially when there's free food available." Fury's teeth clenched in anger as he faced the dual threat before him.

As Fury took in the sight of Wolverine, Cyclops, Colossus, and Storm emerging from the hallway behind Wolverine, he let out a bitter laugh. "Hahahahaha! The world is truly fucked this time..." he muttered, his laughter carrying a mix of disbelief and resignation.

Stark's voice interrupted Fury's thoughts, drawing his attention back. "Hey, Fury, look who's here—the mighty Captain himself!" Stark held Captain America's iconic vibranium shield, which he casually tossed to Steve Rogers. The once-noble hero caught it and muttered, "Hungry... So hungry..."

Tony chuckled, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Indeed, there's plenty of food around. A feast, one might say. But the best food is always fresh..."

Steve's gaze locked onto Fury, who sighed heavily. "What a goddamn shitty day at work..." Fury muttered, his expression a mix of frustration and resignation.

Soaring through the skies, I spotted the vast expanse of the deep blue sea below. I glimpsed a giant whale swimming in the waters and thought to myself, "Great, time to find another hunting ground!" With a playful smile, I transformed my wings into a new shape reminiscent of the fearsome Valstrax from Monster Hunter. The wings adapted to my will, becoming wing of speed.

I tightened my legs, feeling the rush of wind against my body as I accelerated even faster, breaking the sound barrier multiple times. The sea below became a blur as I reached almost hypersonic speeds, the thrill of the chase exhilarating.

"HAHAHA! This is incredible!" I shouted, my voice carrying on the wind as I embraced the sheer joy of flight.

As I soared through the skies at incredible speeds, I caught a glimpse of my next destination—a place that brought a smile to my face. With a surge of excitement, I urged my wings to propel me even faster, breaking through the sound barrier once more. "Okay, time to kick things up a notch!" I exclaimed, my voice carrying on the wind as I pushed myself to reach hypersonic speeds.
