60% Eyes Up in another world / Chapter 6: A Tale of Three Moons

章節 6: A Tale of Three Moons

It wasn't long before I became what I used to be, an Instructor. While I may have not known the Martial Arts they practiced, many things were universal. Positioning and footwork were always a key factor in combat.

And as the afternoon began to fade to night, I got to see a new side to the Khajiit. They were party animals. In part due to their beliefs but I like to think a bit of biology also played a part.

As such, I was introduced to their version of Worship. In particular the worship of the moons. Masser and Secunda hung proudly in the sky, but there was another as well. The original moon of this world named Luna. But the Khajiit had another name for her.

Vilna, named after the late wife of the Silver Mane at the time of the Convergence. The Mane is a spiritual leader of the Khajiit people. His wife at the time rallied the tribes of Eleswer and rejected the oppression of the Aldimeri Dominion.

Establishing Eleswer once more as independent. Sadly she lost her life to the Dominion which only made her a martyr for the people to rally. In her honor they named the third moon of the sky for her.

The third moon also had another consequence for their people. The phases of the moons are what determine the furstock, or form of Khajiit, upon their birth. This new moon further changed them and added new forms for their birth.

The main differences were they became more human like. With less fur and more skin. Some even bordering humans with only ears and a tail. At first the mothers were horrified of these changes, but their God stepped in or rather Goddess.

Azurah, or Azura in Elven tongue, gave her message from the plains of Oblivion. They were a part of the new natural order of this strange world. With the words of their goddess they became a more cohesive and inclusive society.

This was while a large portion of the world was tearing itself apart. So they used their strengths to profit from it.

Caravans, they formed under the adventurous old and young. To promote the growth of their species, Caravan leaders would journey around Eleswer first. Gathering new members of their group from the tribes scattered around Eleswer. With people in tow many would fall in love and create more members of the Caravan.

Inevitably, the Caravans would become tribes. Some stayed abroad trading and moving with the winds. It was the same with Nans' Caravan. As a mystic she held respect of the tribe, whether they held her blood or not.

She held true the belief of visiting their homeland every now and again. Nans' caravan had just returned from there and began their journey anew. Still their was a prejudice behind their people creating a tension for their trade.

Some still called them the sneaky cats, or other worse slurs. Thinking they were born thieves. I only saw them as people trying to make a living.

I was able to get some coin finally as well, due in part to selling a bit of small tea plant seeds for Nans. She had a particular Khajiit began seeding the plant right as soon as I sold them to her. A particular happy humming coming from her.

Not to mention other trinkets as well. Being able to offload them to a decent buyer was nice. Lining the backpack with a fair bit of several different currencies. From Septims to Redanian coins, I had enough to at least order food and a night at the inn for a few weeks.

In the morning we all were awoke by the light of the sun blaring down on some of the more drunk cats.

The members of the Caravan got right to work taking down everything. Myself and Spark were prepping the morning meal as they all got to work.

A mother who was on the Caravan was all to happy to explain how things worked. Everyone chipped in where they could. Even the young kits. They would go around and hand out the food to any who finished their tasks. Or run messages between the line.

They were also learning. They held a sort of mobile school during the ride in one of the carts. Only a few hours because the kits would be to rowdy otherwise.

After everything was packed up we made our way onto the roads. I mostly walked or hung on to a cart at some points for a bit of rest.

When the school started Spark was quick to join in. She also took scans of the books they had, updating her registry for written languages. Then she also proceeded to help, acting as an assistant. Her ability to project images were a fun addition to the class.

For myself I joined up the front of the Caravan speaking with anyone to get more information of this world. The influence of Nirn upon this world was staggering.

The most affected thing was Magic. Nans was able to explain this part to me. There were two prominent forms of magic in this world after the Convergence. The First being native Chaos magic. This Magic relied on a connection in the mage to Chaos to perform magical feats. The prominent rule of this form of magic was the Rule of Price.

For every feat of Magic, Magic demands a price in equivalence. This could be interpreted in many ways but the more prominent form was a form of ritual magic that used objects as a sacrifice for the Magic. Oftentimes this could be as simple as a flower up to a living sacrifice.

Then there was Magicka. Magicka is the energy of Atherius that moves unto the universe through the stars. This energy was believed to come from Magnus, a God of Magic. Magicka is used through the use of runes and intent. The Mage in question would concentrate on a rune for the spell or a full spell circle in the case of ready made spells.

The practice of spell Circles allowed for the Magicka system to be divided through the use of Schools. These Schools of thought separated the spells according to their characteristics to assist new mages in learning new spells.

On the other side was the intent. These mages often called Mystics usually had a very strong connection to Magicka. This enabled them to "Force" their Magicka inside them to react and form to their will. Thus enabling them to use spells.

This form of casting was limited by the mage themselves, often taking longer to cast and slower to learn.

As for the debate between Chaos and Magicka, Chaos wins in shear power. The might by which one could unleash using Chaos is incomparable to most forms of Magicka spells.

But Versatility is where Magicka shines. While Chaos may boast in such a vein as well, Magicka especially for Mystics, can perform many feats at greater ease in comparison. There was also the other side of the populace unable to be mages which benefited from Magicka. Because Magicka could enhance one's physic.

Through channeling Magicka through one's body, they could enhance their strength and movements. This was naturally seen in Martial Artists such as the Claw-Dancers. This was similar in respects to how Guardians would be enhanced through the light.

I learned I was unable to wield either one according to Nans. Having done the tests during the first day on the road. I had no hard feelings on this as I still held the light.

Her lessons on Mysticism were helpful though. Because similar to Magicka the Light responded to intent as well. Through the little amount I held we practiced in using Solar energy.

This was the form I held the most knowledge of so I continued to pursue it for now. This routine of me wandering about the Caravan getting to know everyone, sparing with the Claw-Dancers, and Practicing with Nans and Spark with the light continued for a few days.

Sadly we were interrupted during one such session as a Val Khajiit, or the more human like Khajiit, Told us of a roadblock.

Nans immediately ordered for the Guards to be ready and hopped on my shoulder.

"Onward to the Front. We need to see who bars our path." With a nod I hopped from the Cart and made my way forwards from the center of the pack.

Claw-Dancers and guards alike made way and followed behind me as I charged forwards. Spark also caught up quickly enough hovering about.

When we breached the front of the caravan a motley of men were at the front. While the Caravan was large I could see they matched our guards in numbers.

Walking, I came to a stop next to Jaron. He said as I joined him, "This one sees roughly 40 men. A few strange ones among them. Half Witchers, this one thinks."

Half-Witchers. A by product of the new convergence. As the people sought to protect themselves they remembered the tales of old when the Witchers moved about the lands slaying Monsters. Sorcerers and Sorceresses alike teamed up with the remaining Witchers and created something to fight back.

The original creation method of Witchers was too dangerous, So, they devised a new method on the ashes of the old. The process was able to be carried out during puberty instead of early childhood and allowed for them to safely create more.

The downsides were reduced connection to magic, Less poison resistance, and less strength. Many schools of Witchers were revived in the process of these experiments that created new Witchers and the subsequent creation of the new Half-Witchers.

But the Half-Witchers would never match up with the originals, especially not anymore. With the Introduction of Magicka, Witchers gained a new edge.

With their increased connection to Chaos they were able to connect even better to Magicka. This lead to a revolution on the Witcher Signs and Close quarters combat. The Introduction to Magicka enhancement further progressed their strength. With Years of experience, deadly magic, further enhanced strength, and safe and better alchemical boosts... They thrived.

If before one well trained Witcher could match 15 trained men, They could match 30 with fight left in them.

As for the bandits in front of us, they most likely had an inside on a formula. Or a few split off thinking they were too great. My bet was on the second.

I gave a nod to Jaron and said to the Bandits, "So, whose in charge of this band of idiots?"

They burst into an uproar yelling slurs at me like Cat licker, Bastard, and the like. I just ignored them as I looked through them trying to pick out the leader. A knife dancing in my hand.

One of the Half-Witchers stepped forwards with his hands waving down the mob. Many grew quiet as he stepped up and said, "I am. Now, Pay up! Or? you lot can end up food for the Carrions."

The knife ignited in flames in my hand. My left foot stepped forwards as my right hand brought the knife spinning up. My posture honed well and my light was true. So I followed through and threw the knife.

The Dumbass was too stunned and forgot the prime rule among most societies. No one cares what happens to bandits. As the flaming knife stabbed into his chest it spread the Solar flames across his body in an instant. By the time he was about to scream in pain the second effect of my ability kicked in. A Solar Ignition.

The Solar Flames from around his body collapsed onto a single point and "Boom". The Blast from the ignition blew away a few of his "Friends" nearby. It also became the signal for the Mages of the Caravan to strike.

After the volley of multicolored spells impacted the area killing many of the Bandits on the first go round the next group charged. The Claw-Dancers moved with grace and silence as they moved. Their pawed feet barely making a single noise as they advanced upon the panicked bandits.

I myself didn't do much after that. My first test of the light on an actual subject was a happy note. Even if I did loose a knife. Progress not perfection.

Then came the next part. With such a large bandit group they must have a hideout. And while many say Khajiit are a greedy people... they are a slight bit right. Trustworthy sure! But doesn't stop an easy payday when they can have it.

A scouting party with a few of us going around quickly located the base. They only had a few members around so... I took it upon myself to see off these men. The Khajiit with me were then introduced to firearms. Or at least my Old Fashioned.

With little warning I charged ahead out of a bush and got their attention on me. Many before were sitting by the fire joking around since they didn't hear their friends' deaths a couple miles away.

As one grabbed a weapon and stood to charge at me I planted a fist into his stomach. Then without skipping a beat I aimed a free handed hip fire at his head as he was spitting out his lunch.

As I pulled the trigger the Void shot flung him back and tore through him. The Shot being loud made the bandits flinch. I took it upon myself to stand and aim one arm extended. With quick succession I pulled the trigger on them.

Their forms as the shots tore through them, dragging flesh and bone through their body before burning it with entropy. Sadly for them I was too damn good a shot. Also bad for them, It held 11 rounds.

When the dust settled the Bandits were left in pieces. Calmly I took the cartridge out of the weapon and put a new one in. Sometimes it was better to waste the one bullet than not have an entire magazine.

The other members of the Scouting Party walked into the clearing slowly. The noise had drawn the other stragglers from the group over. The cave became the next target of the group. A few had questions in their eyes as to the noise and such but none asked aloud.

But Jaron wasn't as scared as he had been a witness to the whole thing. Walking up to Argus he said, "My friend, what sorcery was this?"

Placing the spare cartridge with a single bullet onto his belt he said, "It's called a firearm. Think of it like a wand with a spell on demand. This particular one is a Hand Cannon. Now, enough questions. Spark's got movement inside the cave. I'd imagine they are scared shitless due to the noise."

Jaron gave a chuckle and said, "This one agrees. You lead, We follow."

With a nod they walked in a formation forward. A few shield bearers took the sides while an archer took the rear. Jaron passed a spare steel sword to Argus as they moved.

When they rounded the corner of the Cave they found a wider area but was without any bandits. At least those alive. The noise and movements were from many women in various states of dress. A few had blood covering them armed with knives.

Stabbing the blade into the ground Argus walked passed the formation unarmed. The sounds of sobbing women began to fill the room as he spoke, "It's safe now. They are all dead. Come with us, we have food and shelter."

The group fanned out to address the injured. Spark came out too and diagnosed the women to create a triage. Soon enough more of the Caravan arrived as they also heard the noise of the gunfire. The mages arrived with this group and began to utilize restoration magic on the women as well.

The worst were quickly transported back to the Caravan. The Khajiit also made sure to take any and all valuables as well.

I stayed back until the end. Doing emergency first aid for the group before they moved on to the Caravan. As for the Races of the women they were vastly different.

From pure Nords to Half human mixes. Spark was also able to gain valuable data in the physics and genetics of the differing races due to this, even if it wasn't intended.

When he made it back to the Caravan he was exhausted. But a smile graced his face as he gazed into the eyes of the women. Many were soulless husks before he began treatment.

With his Light he devised a simple act of infusing just a tiny bit into them during the treatment process. An act considered common for Warlocks just beginning to learn of the radiance skills. He was able to recover the bit as he worked on the treatments.

The Little light was just enough to get through to them as they now seemed to take the kindness of the caravan to heart. They would take awhile to truly recover, but to him it was worth it.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AN:// So to explain a bit on something I decided for this novel. His "light" or abilities. In an effort to provide actual progression to him i decided on a model of reserves. His subclass would be that of prismatic, able to use light and dark simultaneously and freely. BUT, instead of building up light and dark he has reserves of them.

If you play destiny it would be like he has the prismatic bars only they go down when he uses that source of energy. As the traveler did say they will grow but he has to use them for that.

A Lot of the abilities used by guardians are manifestation types, like spawning knives or other things. He has to work up to that kind of stuff. Not to mention I am not limiting him to any Class. He will pull from all three's different abilities. Just depends on what the situation calls for.
