"Oh~ my dear Heath, what delicious dish are you making?" A peculiar voice caused Heath to cover his face. Why did this guy have time to come out today?
"Mr. Alakazam, how come you have time to eat out today?" Heath asked, looking up helplessly, and sure enough, he saw the troublesome figure.
"Oh, my old friend, you must not know that today is a day off for the post office. I swear if that damn supervisor makes me work overtime, I'll use my psychic powers to teach him a lesson." Alakazam, stroking his golden mustache, said with a smile.
Heath felt a headache coming on. Mr. Alakazam was a regular customer, but his identity was a bit special.
With his yellow body, golden mustache, three fingers, and the spoon in his hand, yes, Mr. Alakazam was a Pokémon—a Alakazam, to be precise.
Heath remembered being dumbfounded the first time he saw Alakazam come to eat, especially when he heard Alakazam speak. It was even more bizarre.
However, apart from his quirky way of speaking, Mr. Alakazam was a reasonable and very kind customer. Heath rarely saw him lose his temper, even if someone accidentally stepped on him.
Mr. Alakazam worked at the post office, but his tasks were minimal since few people chose Alakazam's service for deliveries.
The Pokémon world's postal system was quite interesting. The cheapest service was manual delivery, followed by Flying-type Pokémon delivery. In Viridian City's post office, Pokémon like Pidgeot and Spearow usually handled such tasks.
There was also an exceptionally expensive delivery method: choosing Alakazam. The advantage was that the item would be delivered the same day, with no risk of damage due to Alakazam's stable psychic powers.
The downside was the exorbitant cost, charged by distance—the farther the destination, the higher the fee.
Heath once heard Alakazam mention that the furthest delivery he made was to Lavender Town, charging a whopping three thousand League coins.
"Oh, my dear Mr. Alakazam, if you keep using that annoying translated speech with me, I swear to God I'll kick your butt with my boots," Heath sighed. Who recommended those movies to Alakazam?
"Look at that, what a delightful way to speak. So, Heath, could you make me your new dish?" Alakazam said cheerfully, placing his spoon in the air and sitting down in front of Heath.
As a Alakazam, Alakazam had a unique way of sitting. He always used his psychic powers to create an invisible chair to sit and eat, something Heath was used to and very envious of. If he had such psychic powers, he could save money on jars and furniture.
"Alright, please wait a moment, Mr. Alakazam." Heath nodded and opened the pot lid to check the braised pork with tofu puffs, which was ready.
As Heath lifted the lid, the rich aroma spread through the air, causing many people to stop and look curiously in his direction.
Heath was pleased with this advertising effect. He could have cooked it without the aroma spreading or used methods to suppress the smell, but he wanted to make people's mouths water.
Heath took a bowl, scooped some rice into it, and then ladled the braised pork with tofu puffs, along with the sauce, into another bowl before serving it to Alakazam.
"Leek, leek!" Farfetch'd danced around anxiously, clearly very excited. Heath figured if he didn't serve Farfetch'd a portion, it might bury its head in the pot.
To prevent Farfetch'd from ruining the dish, Heath quickly served it a portion as well.
On the other side, Alakazam curiously eyed the food. Alakazam's life was long, and as they aged, their heads grew larger due to increasing brain cells. Most Alakazams were naturally curious.
The braised pork with tofu puffs before him was an enticing new experience.
The air was filled with a unique aroma. Alakazam had eaten many meals, even the best work meals at the post office, but none had a flavor like this.
Alakazam skillfully picked up his spoon, scooped a piece of tofu puff, and placed it in his mouth. As he chewed, the tofu released the hot broth, causing Alakazam to open his mouth wide, but the soft tofu made him chew a few more times.
"Mr. Alakazam, the braised pork tastes even better with rice," Heath said with a smile, watching Alakazam struggle with the heat. He found it amusing. Had Alakazam forgotten he was a Psychic Pokémon? Cooling down the food should be simple with his powers.
"Alright, my friend." Alakazam obediently poured the braised pork and tofu puffs over the rice and took a big bite.
The rich flavor filled his mouth, the tofu's soft texture, and the rice absorbing the broth's aroma made Alakazam take another big bite.
The cooked pork was chewy, soft but not mushy, and each bite released the meat's flavor and the unique taste of the braising sauce, making Alakazam feel like his taste buds were dancing.
Farfetch'd, imitating Alakazam, ate the rice in big mouthfuls, a look of happiness on its face. However, in its eagerness, it sometimes got burned and jumped around.
[You served Alakazam, earning a Head Enlarging Potion.]
[Head Enlarging Potion: Alakazam believe that the larger the head, the smarter they are. Using this potion permanently enlarges the user's head, making them more attractive (to Alakazam).]
Heath twitched at the corner of his mouth. What kind of strange item was this? What use did he have for it? Was it to attract Alakazam?
Nonetheless, Alakazam's eating show was effective. Many passersby, seeing Alakazam, couldn't help but swallow and then lined up at Heath's stall.
