章節 50: Chapter 51: The Path of Hunters

"Well, he seems to really know well about all these stratagems. He must have been mixing around with aristocratic families all this while, or he wouldn't be able to see through Mui Nujiao's motive," Light thought to himself.

"Are you telling me that under her pure and pretty facade lies a heart full of schemes? I truly admire her as my goddess!" Zhang Pinggu blurted out, clearly distressed.

"The decision wasn't really hers. The Mu family came up with this idea after they were informed that Mu Nujiao lost all the resources," Zhao Manyan explained again.

"Oh, that's great. You almost ruined the image of the dream girl in my heart," Zhang Pinggu said with visible relief.

Early in the morning, Dean Xiao arrived with good news, summoning Light to claim his rewards. They headed toward the grand library that resembled a colossal book, its highest floor off-limits to regular students.

Upon reaching the top floor, Dean Xiao stood, gazing out of the windows at the grand surroundings of the Pearl Institution.

"These resources were meant for students from various Elements, but we've converted them into something that can benefit you," explained Dean Xiao, his hands clasped behind his back.

Light nodded. "As long as I receive the promised resources in full."

Just as Dean Xiao explained, the resources had been converted into items more suitable for Light's use.

"I know you lack good magic equipment. Here are a few high-class items meant for Intermediate-level mages. You may only pick one," Dean Xiao said, with a wave of his sleeve. Several magical items appeared on the table, awaiting Light's decision.

"Now, choose one of these magic items, and you will receive the rest of your promised resources later," Dean Xiao directed.

Light's eyes were immediately drawn to an item close to Dean Xiao's hand.

"Certainly. This is the Blood Tabi, made from the bloody bones of the Blood Beast from the Long Plain Mountains. It grants extraordinary speed, surpassing even Wind Path: Drifting Shadows. Additionally, when charged with the essence of a Blood Beast, it can unleash devastating power," explained Dean Xiao.

Light's eyes gleamed. "Offensive ability. Nice! I'll take this one."

In mere moments, Light bonded with the Blood Tabi, linking it with his soul. A simple thought would now summon the tabi to his legs, granting him the power of the Blood Beast.

"Thank you, Dean Xiao," Light said with gratitude and confidence.

"There's no need to thank me. You earned this. Now, about your cultivation resources…"

"As long as it's not a Stardust Magic Tool, please convert it into something else for me," Light replied quickly.

Dean Xiao nodded in agreement. "The resource I'm talking about is special access—reserved for the outstanding or those who have contributed to the institution. We've secured you a one-time entry to the **Three Step Tower**."

Light's expression grew serious. He had heard of the Three Step Tower from Su Xuanhua and Su Hongxiu. It was the cornerstone of Pearl Institution's dominance among the nation's schools.

Dean Xiao handed Light a card. "This contains 2 million RMB as your reward for winning the competition. Use it well."

Light took the card. "Don't worry, Dean Xiao. I won't be satisfied with remaining an Intermediate-level mage."

Dean Xiao smiled. "Good. I hope that, if something worse than the Bo City tragedy happens, you will be ready to contribute."

Light left the library feeling energized. Dean Xiao's foresight in converting part of the resources into things Light could use for his cultivation had been spot-on.

---

"My Fire is now the Rose Fire, worth more than 25 million in the market. My Lightning, the Supreme Lightning, is valued at over 30 million. Maybe I'll use this money to improve my living conditions," Light mused to himself.

Dean Xiao had even suggested that Light combine his cultivation with practical combat experience to accelerate his progress. By fighting relentlessly and honing his skills, Light could unlock his true potential.

And so, Light decided to head toward the Hunters Union, where experienced mages took on bounties for extra income and training. The Hunters Union was located in the Lu Family's district, housed in a towering skyscraper.

Upon reaching the fiftieth floor, Light was greeted by the sight of the bustling main hall. The Hunter Union in Shanghai was vast, boasting the most extensive bounty database in the country, including international assignments.

"Sir, you'll need the veteran hunter title to join the city's beast hunting squad. Based on your experience, you still lack the points necessary to qualify," explained the hunter assistant.

"How do I obtain this title?" Light inquired.

"You need to complete more assignments. According to the data, you're currently an Intermediate Hunter with 4500 contribution points. You need 5500 more to advance," the assistant explained.

"However, I recommend joining a private hunting organization," she added.

"Well, recommend one to me!" Light exclaimed.

The assistant quickly found one for him. "The Clearsky Hunter Agency. It's been operating for years."

---

After passing by Jing An Temple and some busy streets, Light arrived at a street with an old-world charm, housing the **Clearsky Hunter Agency**.

At the front door, a little girl with twin ponytails sat swinging her legs while reading a picture book. Through the glass, Light could see the inn's interior, neat and quiet.

The girl spoke without looking up, "If you're here to commission a task, the minimum price is 300,000. The final price will depend on the difficulty."

"I'm here for an interview," Light clarified.

"Lingling, is there a customer?" an elderly voice called from inside.

"He's here for an interview, Grandpa," Lingling replied.

As Light was about to step inside, a luxuriously-dressed woman rushed into the agency, led by Lingling to the back where the old man sat, pipe in hand, listening to her story.

---

Light watched the situation unfold and wondered about the strange commission. As the woman left, the old man turned to him and said, "Kid, since you've come to join our Clearsky Hunter Agency, this commission is yours."

Light blinked in surprise but accepted the challenge. "It's good that there's already something for me to do."

"You'll have a teammate," the old man added, pointing to Lingling.

"This kid?" Light was flabbergasted.

"Yeah. The commissions are typically handled by a two-person team here," the old man explained.
