"You need to be calm, I can feel your fear just by holding your hands, my grandfather won't bite you, let me let you in on something, my grandfather was the one who suggested we got married, so you need not be scared."
Xin Yan looked at him with an astonished look, "you really aren't faking what you are saying right?" She squinted at him to make sure he was saying the truth.
"Do I need to lie?" As he asked this question, they had already reached the entrance.
"Welcome young master, welcome young miss," the maids and guards had their heads bowed as they welcomed them home.
She raised her brows at the treatment. She then nodded approvingly, surely, he didn't need to lie.
"Little Yan, you are finally here, I have been waiting for so long," the 80-year-old man excitedly held Xin Yan's hands as soon as they stepped in which frightened her.
But once she heard the address, 'little Yan,' she calmed down a bit. Only one person addressed her in such a form, it was Li Qiang's grandfather, the head of the Lis.
"Little Yan, I hope I didn't frighten you, I didn't mean to, I thought it will be worthwhile seeing that you youngsters like it that way," grandpa Li held her hands as he tried to find any discomfort but her eyes were clear.
"Grandpa, how can I be scared or frightened her of you? I admit I was a bit panicky as it was unexpected but you called me little Yan, I know you are the only one who addresses me in such a manner, so all my fear left me."
It could be said that Xin Yan could coax people and even the people with the hardest heart was no match for her.
"Good, little Yan, you are even much more better than some grandson of mine," grandpa Li snorted as he cast a disdainful look towards Li Qiang who was confused.
"Grandpa, it's not right to stand for too long, your health is not good, let's have a seat, shall we?" She directly led him into the big mansion while she snickered in her heart.
She couldn't believe that she was fortunate enough to see Li Qiang's dumbfounded look. A rare expression from him.
"Little Yan, this grandson of mine doesn't talk a lot, having lost his parents at a tender age, he has a withdrawn personality, it's up to you to bring him out of his shell and make him cheerful again."
Grandpa Li tasked Xin Yan with an heavy task. She hesitated as she observed him. Even at the mention of his late parents, he didn't flinch or react.
If it were her, she would have thrown a tantrum. She knew a thing or two about his late parents, they were kind souls. It's a pity, just like her parents, they died in a fatal car accident.
"Do not worry grandfather, I would protect Li Qiang and bring a smile to his face, I promise," Xin Yan solemnly gave her word.
Li Qiang was stunned at her words and he was caught between tears and laughter. She said she was going to protect him when she was the one who needed protecting. Forget it, he would just count it as her placating his grandfather.
"You have given your word little Yan, you can't go back on it okay?" Grandpa Li held her hands and she nodded.
"Little Yan, is it okay if we publicize your marriage with my bratty grandson today?" Grandpa Li asked of her opinions which made her smile. The fact that they could do such made her happy.
"I'm fine by it, it's okay," she replied positively and the grandpa smiled widely.
"Get to work," his attitude to Xin Yan was warm but towards his own grandson, it was cold. It was actually a façade. He loved his grandson the most as he was the fruit of his (grandpa Li's) son with his wife.
"Everything is ready, she just needed to give her word and my men would begin action, how's that grandpa? It wasn't bad, was it?" Li Qiang asked with a smug smile.
Grandpa Li cleared his throat loudly before commending him, "you have done well."
"I reckon you both haven't had breakfast, the chef prepared quite a feast and I'm afraid I can't eat a lot today," grandpa Li muttered with a smile as he watched his grandson and his future granddaughter in-law.
"If you didn't mention it now, I would have forgotten how hungry I am, I only had an english breakfast back at home but what can that do, grandpa, I'm eager for breakfast."
Li Qiang raised his brows to her level of coquettishness. She really knew how to make an old man happy.
"Let's go Xin Yan, some people don't even appreciate what they have," for the umpteenth time, Li Qiang became speechless. The three of them knew who he was referring to.
While they were enjoying a meal, a piece of news broke out.
