Leon stared at Levy's lifeless body, feeling the severed connection in his heart as though a part of his own soul had been ripped away. His breathing was shallow, eyes fixed on the stillness that had taken hold of his friend. They had synced their souls, bound together in the depths of battle, and now that bond was shattered.
"Levy…" Leon whispered, his voice trembling with the weight of loss. The battlefield around him was chaotic, the sounds of clashing steel and the cries of the wounded and dying reverberating in his ears, yet all he could focus on was the emptiness where Levy's presence had once been.
"We need to move! Only five of them are down, and the rest have summoned the vampire soldiers. They're on their way!" One of his comrades grabbed Leon's arm, shaking him as the urgency of their situation became more apparent with each passing second.
