"Please, keep this a secret from the Duke. I don't want him to be aware of this shameful behavior of mine," Seraphina pleaded, her voice trembling slightly.

"Madame…" The butler sighed inwardly at Seraphina, who was smiling ever so softly. He immediately felt sorry for her, knowing she was putting up a strong act.

Her vulnerability was heartbreaking to witness, and he wished he could do more to ease her pain.
