章節 63: Staying Away from Him

Elvis drove Claire back to her flat quietly because he knew she needed space. When they got there, she looked at him with tired but thankful eyes.

She asked in a soft voice, "Would you mind coming inside for a bit?" "I could use some company."

Elvis agreed, parked the car and then followed Claire to her flat. Claire changed into dry clothes and wrapped herself in a warm blanket when she got inside. She gave Elvis a towel and told him to sit down on the couch.

"Thank you for coming to get me, Elvis," she thanked him sincerely. "I don't know what I would have done without you."

"It's okay, Claire," Elvis said, showing that he was worried. "I just hate seeing you like this."

They sat in easy silence for a moment before Claire spoke again. "I've been thinking about what you said earlier, about taking the rest of the 20% from my father."

Elvis raised an ear, curious. "And?"
