"some thing once passed, cannot be revisited; we can't go back to the way things were," Erwin said with a melancholic smile. After four years, he had to admit he held some feelings for Lina, or else he wouldn't have waited for her return up to this moment. However, he had engaged now and it was no longer feasible to entertain a relationship with Lina.
Erwin's response shocked everyone further, Erwin was actually refusing the advance of the men's dream woman, an outcome completely unforseen! Andrew on other hand felt a surge of relief, interpreting this as his chance still being intact.
Even Lina was taken aback, her long -contemplated confession rejected. She felt a mix of frustration and dissatisfaction.
"I can't believe it. You once fought so hard for my attention; how can just you give up on me like that? At 8 o'clock tonight, I'll wait for you at our old spot - I'll tell you the real reason I left back then, and only then you can decide," Lina urged him.
Erwin paused, suprised. Could it be Lina had her reason for leaving without saying goodbye? Considering this, Erwin agreed to the meeting.
After accepting Lina's invitation, Erwin left the reunion event early, but not before settling bill for the party,as Erwin was a man of his word. Besides, the modest sum was hardly significant to him.
Having dropped Daniel back at Bandung City hospital, Erwin went straight to their former common haunt, Panda park, a place where he and Lina met frequently during their college days.
It was also old place Lina had mentioned earlier, a place know to only the two of them.
About half an hour later, Erwin arrived at Panda park . By now, night had fallen, and the park was sparsely populated.
Erwin parked his car along the kerb and strolled onto the ground, feeling a wave of nostalgia wash over him. "It's just as it was back then!" He thought, nothing that the park hadn't changed much over the past four years. The trees and flowers appeared almost identical to how they were, as if they hadn't grown at all in that time.
"The gazebo is still here too!" From a distance, Erwin spotted the gazebo where Lina used to wait, and he approached with smile, leaning against its wooden fence to soak in surrounding.
But shortly thereafter, his phone chimed with an incoming message.
Lighting up the screen, Erwin checked his phone and saw a message from Rose announcing that tomorrow was her birthday and inviting him to celebrate with her at Glory bar the following evening.
Erwin paused to think. Indeed , tomorrow was Rose's birthday, and even though she was his ex-girlfriend, it would be impolite to not wish her well on her special day. However, this meant potentially having to deal with Sam again.
Okay, I'll be there tomorrow night," Erwin replied with a smile, resolving that if Sam dared to confront him again, he would stand his ground, fearing not the presence of the so called young master.
