More tears poured from Edna's eyes, staining the blanket. 

She didn't dare plead, knowing it would be futile to change Xavier's decision. Her family was powerful, indeed, but compared to the Wallaces, they were insignificant.

Miranda seemed to have predicted everything, so she didn't cry much. However, the hurt was still there. Her family was not thriving like Edna's, which was why she stuck with her. Having a rich best friend by her side gave her a sense of security, and despite their differences, they surprisingly got along well.

In just one night, they had lost their career and everyone was going to use them as a laughing stock whenever they got bored. 

All of a sudden, Edna caught Michelle from the corners of her eyes, hiding behind one of their colleagues. 

Michelle's eyes widened in panic, her heart pounding as she silently begged Edna not to mention her name.
