"Uncle Chen, let me do it!" Xiang Aoran squatted down.
The elderly Uncle Chen showed a grateful expression and then carefully placed Xiang Yimo onto Xiang Aoran's back.
His entire body relaxed as Yimo was lifted onto his back.
"Quick, quick, quick! If we don't start the ceremony soon, the auspicious time will pass!" The wedding officiant rushed over as well.
Xiang Aoran, with his brother Xiang Yimo on his back, stood in the groom's position.
"Yimo, wake up, wake up!" Xiang Aoran whispered urgently.
But Xiang Yimo kept his eyes tightly shut, as if deeply asleep, his complexion was pale, and even his lips were a frightening white.
"Could Third Brother be dead?" Xiang Xiaolong shrank into Wang Xueyun's embrace, terrified.
"You little brat, what kind of bad luck are you talking about on such a joyful day!" Xiang Zongyin cursed, glaring fiercely at his precious youngest son.
"Xiaolong, don't talk nonsense!" Wang Xueyun quickly covered her son's mouth.
Fearing her son might say the wrong thing and anger Xiang Zongyin.
Xiang Zongyin reached out to check Yimo's breathing and then, he breathed a sigh of relief.
Yimo was still breathing; it seemed he was just in a deep coma due to his severe illness.
"Dad, what do we do? With Third Brother like this, how can he stand and complete the ceremony?" Xiang Aoran, with Yimo on his back, wiped the sweat from his forehead.
Although the rascal Yimo was seriously ill, he was tall and strong, and carrying him had Xiang Aoran sweating profusely in no time.
No wonder the elderly Uncle Chen was panting heavily with the effort.
"What do we do?" Everyone was discussing among themselves.
"Dad, I think we should postpone the wedding for another day. Third Brother is so sick, we should wait until he gets better, so at least he can stand for a bit!" The eldest son, Xiang Aofeng, suggested.
No sooner had the suggestion been made than it was immediately rejected by Xiang Zongyin.
"No! The wedding must go on today, no matter what!" His third son had been sick for five whole years.
He was counting on this wedding to bring good fortune to his son, fearing that any further delay might mean Yimo wouldn't make it.
"Aoran! Just carry your brother through the wedding ceremony!" Xiang Zongyin declared,
and returned to his seat.
"Dad! How can this be? Third Brother is getting married? I carry him through the wedding vows?" Aoran's eyes nearly popped out.
"What else then? Do you expect me to carry him?" Xiang Zongyin asked defiantly, brooking no argument.
Xiang Aoran could only stand there, carrying Yimo grudgingly, thinking to himself: Third brother, I'm just carrying you through the ceremony, the vows are yours, not mine! Don't blame your second brother for stepping in during your wedding vows, alright!
"The ceremony begins now!" shouted the wedding officiant.
That's when Zhong Lingling snapped back to reality.
"Bow to heaven and earth!"
"Bow to the parents!"
"The couple bows to each other!"
"Ouch!" Zhong Lingling and Xiang Aoran cried out at the same time.
It turns out they had bumped their heads together.
Xiang Aoran quickly took a step back with Yimo on his back, and a wave of laughter filled the hall.
"Enter the bridal chamber!" the final call rang out.
At last, the ceremony was complete.
Zhong Lingling was escorted into the bridal chamber, decorated all in red.
For luck, this bridal chamber wasn't Yimo's usual sickroom, but a newly furnished suite.
Of course, the room was still within Jingxiang Pavilion.
Xiang Mansion was composed of several villas of different sizes and shapes, each with their own beautiful name and unique characteristics; the only thing they had in common, perhaps, was their comparable luxury.
