章節 180: Chapter 181: The Flowing and Stationary History

"Didn't I already tell you? Just barely," Medici said with a slightly reckless smile, clearly satisfied with his condition.

"Have you gained any memories regarding this aspect? Besides the events of your interaction with me in the Fourth Epoch, have you gained any additional memories?" Lynn asked curiously, looking at Medici as if observing a lab rat.

"For instance, in the Fourth Epoch, when I restored you to the strength of a Weather Warlock and took you back to the Solomon Empire, theoretically, you shouldn't have stayed in this place for another thousand years. Did you gain memories of this aspect? How did history correct this part?"

Lynn's questions came one after another. When he had confessed part of the truth to Medici, it was not only to use it as a bargaining chip to gain the other's trust but also to understand these things firsthand.

"The only real memories I've obtained are the ones related to you, up until you left the Solomon Empire." Medici glanced at someone with annoyance and added, "Of course, including the time someone cheated in a fight with me."

Lynn blinked but remained unflustered, merely asking, "Apart from that, have you gained any information similar to sudden knowledge or information in your memory?"

The reason Lynn asked was naturally based on the situation with Antigonus. Although that dumb wolf didn't explicitly say, his attitude had already provided Lynn with enough information.

Coupled with the behaviors of Solomon and Pallez, Lynn had some guesses about the past he indirectly influenced.

The past and history that he directly changed were apparently reflected directly in those involved, whether in memory or otherwise, and Medici was the best proof of this.

And the traces Lynn left in history, those he hadn't personally changed but had indirectly influenced, seemed to interfere with this world in the form of obscure information.

Moreover, this obscure information was difficult for the involved parties to notice—Lynn was quite sure that Antigonus, who had direct contact with him, probably sensed something was wrong, but Solomon did not.

The other party was clearly also influenced by him, thus knowing about the Angel of Secrets. Solomon obviously didn't realize that the Angel of Secrets suddenly appeared and originally didn't exist; otherwise, he should have been wary and more concerned about Lynn's existence.

The behavior of Solomon naturally reminded Lynn of Leonard's Grandpa Pallez. He seemed similar, also knowing about the existence of the Angel of Secrets but unaware of the strangeness of this information.

Honestly, it was quite terrifying, but thinking about it, it seemed reasonable.

The only thing Lynn was unsure of now was whether the indirect influences he caused could only be sensed as wrong by those who had direct contact with him or whether everyone could sense the discrepancy with a reminder.

Just as Lynn didn't know if he drastically changed history, would it reflect in this era as everyone's memories being altered, viewing the changed history as the original one, or would everyone, like those who had contact with him, gain a sudden memory?

Lynn was very curious, which was one of the reasons he returned to the Abraham family.

He planned to conduct an experiment with the Abraham family, such as leaving a diary as an ancestor to see if the descendants of the Abraham family in the Fifth Epoch would regard him and his diary as originally existing or be terrified that something was altering history.

Lynn was very interested in this.

Hearing Lynn's words, Medici first paused, then evidently began to check his memories. A few minutes later, his expression became subtle, and he said, "I indeed obtained some information."

"What kind of information?" Lynn asked hastily.

"Very chaotic information, somewhat like fragments based on the history you altered in the Fourth Epoch, but not complete, only some pieces." Medici thought for a moment and slightly frowned.

"In this information, I did not stay in this underground building for a thousand years, but there is no specific information on what I did during those thousand years. The few more detailed pieces of information are related to the Tudor descendants I killed."

"Those guys seemed to still have died by my hands. After the fall of Tudor, I seemed to have chosen to hunt down these Tudor descendants. In short, those who deserved to die basically died by my hands," Medici looked at Lynn and said.

"This information seemed to suddenly appear in my mind, but before you mentioned it, I didn't notice anything strange about this information and really felt like I didn't stay in this place for a thousand years and hunted down those Tudor descendants instead."

"If I'm not mistaken, if you now investigate the death of those Tudor descendants, it might now match the information I gained."

"It sounds pretty terrifying and somewhat subtle... It feels like a completion based on your situation in the Fourth Epoch but not fully completed," Lynn analyzed, pinching his chin. "It's like a script with only a few lines of the outline, waiting for the author to fill in the remaining gaps."

"But wouldn't history become very strange like this?" Lynn asked, his expression becoming subtle. "It feels like if a historian tried to study this period, they'd be driven crazy by all the inconsistencies and bugs in history!"

The mixed past he altered and the original history, the changing history and automatically completed history, now the history seemed like a flowing river and a stationary lake, presenting a state that normally wouldn't exist, one hard for mortals to understand.

Lynn was even sure that if anyone tried to explore this history during this period, they'd be driven to question their sanity.

"History already became strange when you appeared. I thought you had some self-awareness about this." Medici glanced at Lynn, his tone becoming sarcastic again.

"It was all to save you." Lynn lightly countered Medici's sarcasm, continuing to ponder, "But it seems no butterfly effect occurred. History was altered, yet not completely changed."

"Only the parts you personally changed were altered; the rest remained the same, at least the results did." Medici added to Lynn's words.

"I guess even if you now went to the Fourth Epoch and killed Tudor, the chaos caused would only affect the part of history you interfered with. The remaining parts would still be completed in another way, like another Sequence 0 appearing to take Tudor's place, continuing to confront the other emperors, until you personally intervened in that part of history."

"Then apart from those whose fate you directly changed, the rest would still appear as they originally did."

"That's so strange; it doesn't follow normal logic at all," Lynn couldn't help but complain.

"But it aligns well with the madness of this world," Medici seemed to accept it well, looking at Lynn and commenting, "It also fits your identity as a little monster."

章節 181: Chapter 182 Finally Going Over the Script with Little Red

"But it fits the madness of this world, and it suits your little monster persona."

Listening to Medici's comment, which was somewhere between praise and mockery, Lynn nodded in agreement, rubbing his chin. "Indeed, if nothing else, it's quite imposing."

Although it sounds counterintuitive, this world has too many strange things. Not to mention the Lord of Mysteries and the God Almighty being resurrected through possession years after their deaths, which is also quite absurd. With that in mind, Lynn felt that his own peculiarities were not that out of place.

It can only be said that his true self might be of an unimaginably high rank, so even his split self, having inherited some of that 'property,' possesses highly unique Characteristics.

"I don't know if this is a good or bad thing…" Lynn couldn't help but sigh. His true self being powerful is both an advantage and a disadvantage. The more unique the true self is, the higher the limit of the power Lynn can borrow, but this also means it is harder for Lynn to break free and gain independence.

Of course, Lynn wouldn't harbor any malice towards his unknown true self. In fact, he could feel that his true self had a positive attitude towards him, completely indifferent to whether he breaks away or not. His true self was simply too special, and he, as a split self, was not ordinary either. So, even though the true self showed him goodwill, trying to break free was still extremely difficult.

Even the goodwill from the true self, such as power and knowledge, could swallow him if he couldn't control it properly—not because the true self intentionally did anything, but because Lynn couldn't withstand too much 'goodwill.'

And the true self apparently didn't know how to properly maintain the humanity of a split self, or perhaps didn't care about such matters.

After repeatedly borrowing power from the true self and experiencing a certain degree of assimilation, Lynn had somewhat captured the state of his true self. He knew his true self seemed uninterested in most things in this world, and indifferent to them, so when Lynn sought help, the true self would extend goodwill but wouldn't control its intensity.

To the true self, whether Lynn remained independent or returned to it made no difference. Thus, it wouldn't actively break their connection, nor would it prevent it.

The true self merely watched Lynn, waiting for him to make a choice, like an observer who wouldn't hesitate to help when Lynn needed it.

To the true self, this was also a choice—an option among countless possibilities, but not the decisive one.

"Only when I make a decisive choice will the timeline be truly established. But until then, every choice will make me lean towards a certain possibility…"

Lynn murmured almost instinctively. Then he blinked and grabbed his head in pain, bending over and groaning, "Argh, I don't want to think about it anymore… I nearly forgot that my assimilation rate just increased today. If I keep thinking, I won't be able to suppress it…"

Lynn took several deep breaths, adjusting his state. He felt he needed a good rest, preferably thinking of something pleasant to lower the assimilation rate.

Although he wasn't at the point of losing control, it wasn't a very good feeling.

"Hey, are you alright?"

Medici's voice suddenly came from the side, unusually lacking its usual mockery, seemingly out of pure concern.

This made Lynn blink, feeling slightly better than before. He grabbed Medici's arm and said, "Little Red, let's go over the script!"

"Huh?" Medici, who was indeed worried about Lynn, was stunned. But this top-tier schemer quickly recovered, a mischievous smile curling his lips. "Alright, who are you planning to fool?"

"A lot of people…" Lynn let go of Medici, listing seriously, "Like the future Lord of Mysteries, the Evernight Goddess, Bethel, Solomon…"

Lynn listed these big shots one by one and finally said, "It's not about fooling people; some secrets aren't meant to be public. Like the fact that I just recently arrived in this world."

Lynn lowered his voice, as if sharing a secret, "After all, they're not my little brother. They can't know the truth like you."

"Pfft, as if I wanted to know the truth." Medici sneered, but his smile grew more genuine, clearly not as indifferent as he claimed.

Medici knew Lynn's purpose was to ask him to keep secrets and to use the 'shared secret' tactic to deepen their bond.

But knowing and being immune to such tactics are different. Lynn indeed planned to share certain truths only with Medici.

This exclusivity, even if he knows lynn has ulterior motives, is really hard to resist.

Especially since it came from someone like Lynn, a usually unreliable elder brother, who just helped him beat Tudor, assisted him in regaining Sequence Two, and negotiated with Adam for his sake.

This was an open conspiracy, but an irresistible one.

"Let's hear your script." Medici crossed his arms, looking at Lynn. "I want to see what kind of script you can come up with."

"It's nothing much…" Lynn feigned shyness before briefly outlining his plan to fool Klein, Azik, and others.

Of course, Lynn omitted many key details, like Klein's name, identity, and Characteristics, summarizing only the critical points.

"So, in summary, I have to stick to this script, or I might be chased by the Lord of Mysteries in the future." Lynn shrugged, pretending to be helpless.

"Are you so sure that little guy you described will become the Lord of Mysteries?" Medici raised an eyebrow, catching a critical point. "Or have you already descended into the future?"

"Guess!" Lynn smiled brightly.

"Tsk! You seem to care quite a bit about that kid…" Medici remarked, crossing his legs. "I thought you'd favor Bethel more."

"Mr. Door is great, but my relationship with 'Future LoM' is better. You know, for me, emotions are the primary factor in my judgment. Blame it on meeting Bethel being too late, and not being close enough even now." Lynn shrugged, showing a regretful expression.

Even though his relationship with Mr. Door had improved—since Mr. Door's time to be on the verge of being corrupted, it still wasn't as close as with Klein.

And honestly, having decided to help Klein become the Lord of Mysteries—unless they had a falling out, Lynn wouldn't help Bethel in this matter, even if they became good friends later.

Lynn is a man of principles.
