KELLY’s POV
AFTER FOUR YEARS...
At long last, I arrived in Canberra… the city in which I was raised and which had all of my childhood memories, both happy and painful. I never in a million years would have guessed that I would finally be able to finish my bachelor's degree in Business Management in California, where I stayed at the house of my mom's sister, Aunt Claire.
Her husband was killed in an accident, and the couple didn’t have any children together. Aunt Claire spent her entire life by herself and was glad when she found out that I was going to stay with her for four years. She treated me like her own daughter, so I never had any issues with her.
As the car drove up, I looked out the window and saw the familiar trees, houses, and buildings that lined the road leading to the house. Rome, who was driving the car and was the one who picked me up from the airport, would occasionally look up to check on me in the rearview mirror.
