I watch as the color drained from her face. Brittany has turned pale. Her face is a pasty, sickly white. She covered her mouth with her hand while pushing Mr. Hong away from her.

“Baby, is there something wrong?” worries were evident from Mr. Hong’s face. She says nothing, just stares at Jeonghan with panic rising, thrumming, sweeping all over her face. She sways a little as if she’s about to collapse. There is a sheen of sweat gathering, pooling on her forehed.

“What’s the meaning of this Brittany?” I leaned back, sipping on my wine as I watch Jeonghan’s eyes looked at Brittany sharply. He grits through his teeth.

Her face is alarming. It’s like a white canvas stretched taut to breaking point. As if it might snap any time. And she’s sucking in air, huge gulps like she can’t breathe.

"Jeonghan, what are you doing here?" she asked. Her eyes darted on me, on Jeonghan and then Mr. Hong.

No one dared to answer.
