With Atropos still trapped beneath him, Luciano continued to press his weight against the humming blade but his grip around the hilt trembled as he struggled to break past the unyielding resistance of the golden thread that she held up. Sweat beaded on his brow and his muscles strained with the effort. He could feel the strain in his arms but he still pushed onward.

All he needed to do to defeat her was to strike her with even just the tip of his blade. Shadowrend's necrotic energy would do the rest for him. Once it pierced the skin of any entity, the dark aura could weaken their life force and sap their magical abilities.

Which meant Atropos would not be able to use both her shears and threads.
