As anxiety mounted Giovanni, his fingers clenched the steering wheel which caused his knuckles to turn an ashen white. A single droplet of cold sweat traced a path down his temple, a stark contrast to the sweltering weather. The words from the radio melded into an indistinct murmur, overwhelming his senses. Looking through the windscreen, he saw the deserted road extending ahead, the horizon appearing warped and obscured by the rippling waves of intense heat.

His heart raced as his eyes nervously flickered up to the rearview mirror. There, he saw the shadowy, hooded figure of the reaper reclined in the backseat. His ominous presence sent a shiver down his spine.

When Grim caught his gaze in the mirror, a subtle but distinct smile formed beneath the darkness of his hood, causing a slight glint in his eyes.
