Lake's brows raised in realization - he could guess off the top of his head how said news reached Matilda.

He silently listened, having a gut feeling that he would be there for a while.

"And as one of Davian's only surviving relatives, it's imperative that I step in and do something about this."

Lake shifted his weight from foot to foot, he was yet to have lunch and it didn't help that he had been standing before Matilda got here.
