The trio went quick, going to work in assisting the 3rd Army as Patton was moving to breakthrough
Saarbrucken and the West Wall. The fiery general believed that the Germans didn't have enough troops nor time to fully refortify the
Siegfried Line before his forces could reach and go through it, rendering the rest of the line all but useless along the French-German border.
Their efforts helped quickly achieve that breakthrough and isolate the city while elements of the 3rd kept driving on into Germany as Patton hoped to reach the Rhine and secure bridgeheads for the next offensives.
Bucky's powers of being a canine shifter has been extremely handy in many ways, and so, he happily yet determinedly went to make the three days as much as hell for the Germans while making as much as victory for the Allies.
On the third day, the trio was seeking to assist the 3rd Army seize a bridge at the Rhine on the
French-German border, near Freiburg in Breisgau and the Black Forest, unknowing what's to be happening at the same time, in Paris.
Things had been fairly calm in Paris since the liberation.
The Free French government was trying to work as hard as possible to restore order and control over much of the country after four long years of Nazi occupation as well as lay the foundation for a post war government.
Many of the Parisens were doing their normal jobs and work while Erskine was busy taking care of Susan.
Erskine smiled warmly as he pushed the stroller, looking down at Susan,
"Well, that was a good morning at the bakery, Susan. Did you enjoy the blueberries?".
Susan babbled, nodding as she clapped her hands, and Erskine chuckled, "I thought so. Looks like
I have to tell your parents to add blueberries to the menu. And look, we're almost home.".
Susan giggled, and cooed as she mimicked a book with her hands, and Erskine smiled, "A story before your nap, eh?
Tell you what, you pick the story, and I'll read it, hmm?".
Susan cheered happily, and Erskine laughed heartily, "You get away with so much, you know that?", and Susan tittered at him with a giggle before smacking her hand to her lips and giving it away.
Erskine smiled, "I love you too, my goddaughter. Ah, here we are, home at last.", opening the door, pushing the stroller into the living room, and leaned down to remove Susan from the stroller, putting her in the playpen,
"Alright, Susan, you stay here while I get a few books from your room. Here's your wolfy stuffie.", handing her wolf stuffy he brought this morning earlier before the bakery.
Susan squealed happily as she squeezed her wolf stuffy, looking up at Erskine with a smile before she shrieked from fear, seeing something behind Erskine, turning invisible.
Erskine turned before he was thrown to the floor by the figure, recognizing the man immediately from his scar and uniform.
"Skorzeny...", Erskine chocked out as he tried to resist. Otto Skorzeny, one of the Third Reich's best commandos who recently had broken
Mussolini out of custody the year before and only a few days ago, he had kidnapped Hungarian leader
Miklós Horthy's son and forced the man into conceding to German demands as he tried to pull Hungary out of the war with the Allies and the Soviets at the gates of Budapest.
The Third Reich didn't know that Otto has a secret partnership with Johann Schmidt, the commando of Hydra, and well, after hearing about
Eris's death, he was rightfully enraged, and within hearing rumors and stories about the fact that the two famous giant captains became parents to a baby, but not just any baby, but a powerful baby, and he realized that the baby is born naturally of
Quantonium and Super Soldier Serum somehow, and he wanted to drain some more for he needs to open a portal to a world where he can find a champion to destroy the two captains, and he can lead Hydra into victory, spearing up the Third Reich.
So, he asked for Otto, and requested him to go spy on the two captains, Erskine, anyone who's close to the baby, uncaring about who's in the way,
telling Otto to do whatever he pleases to do without rules while obeying his request of kidnapping and drugging the baby.
"The child, doctor. Give her up and maybe you'll be alive long enough to give your final words to a medic.", Skorzeny threatened as he pulled out his Walther P38.
Erskine narrowed his eyes fiercely, trying to remember what Phillips taught him, "I'll never give up my goddaughter,
Skorzeny.", using his legs to twist and knock Skorzeny off, using the adrenaline he greatly needed, wrestling his gun out of his hands as he tumbled with Skorzeny.
Susan was quiet, trying to use her force fields to hover and fly over to her nursery, invisible, and went to hide under the bed, squeezing her wolfy stuffy,
hearing the shouts, the grunts, the yells from the two men, tears falling and jolted in fear and horror when she heard a loud gunshot.
She knew from Peggy and Steve's stories, gunshots are bad to good people, and she made herself as small as possible,
shivering and quivering in fright, hearing footsteps and that mean guy's husky voice.
"Where are you, brat?", Skorzeny growled as he searched, and frowned as he came into the nursery, having spied on the house long enough to
know where's where, and remembered the rumors of the baby's powers, he pulled out heat vision googles that the
Hydra lab whipped up, and put them on, searching carefully before he locked on the bed-like crib, and smiled, "Got you.".
Susan screamed as Skorzeny got on his knees, grabbing her by the knee, his hand quickly moving to put a needle of numbing pain into her hip as he pulled her out with Susan trying to use her force fields to push him off, to hurt him
, but the numbing pain was quick, cutting her off from invisibility which turned off, turning her visible, cutting off the force field powers, and the size-changing powers.
