Closing the door, "I'm home, my loves!", Peggy called out, and Steve halted, looking over to see Peggy, and
Susan squealed, wiggled in his hands, reaching out with a giggle. Steve chuckled as he put her down, and Susan walked wobblily, heading straight for Peggy.
She has been practicing her toddling walk all this afternoon with
Steve's help, and she has been succeeding slowly, and much to her happiness, this time, finally, she made it all the way across the living room to Peggy without falling back or forward.
"Look at you!", Peggy cried as she quickly picked up Susan. "Only a few months old and you're already walking!".
Steve chuckled, "It's the only thing she kept asking me to help her with ever since this morning, next to games and of course, the airplane playtime.
Between bottles of milk and baby snacks, it was literally the only thing on her mind.", with a smile as he came to Peggy and Susan before kissing Peggy which earned Susan to giggle happily.
Peggy smiled, "Wow...Did you practice with Daddy just for me?", and Susan clapped her hands, nodding, and Steve smiled,
"She was literally on all cogs, firing up her stubborn side. Are you happy, Sue-P?".
Susan smiled gummily, babbling happily, and then pointed to the dining room, making hungry noises, and Peggy chuckled, "Yes, let's go enjoy dinner, my little miracle.
Let's see how Daddy did with the food. It smells marvelous, and I bet it will even taste more delicious!", walking on with Steve following by.
"Well, I've certainly tried my best.", Steve chuckled as Peggy walked up to kiss him on the cheek. "You always do great with the food, luv.", she smiled.
Steve smiled, "Why, thank you, my queen.", as they came into the dining room where there's a spread of food in heaps.
With Susan seated in the baby booster chair, to enjoy her special puree food, the couple dug in.
Naturally, the food was perfect, and the family ate heartily, with Susan begging for a dance afterwards when she walked to the radio, learning how to wobblily dance with assistance of her parents, with
Peggy and Steve smiling happily to see Susan enjoying the fun after the morning she had.
Eventually, Susan got all tuckered out, exhausted after all the fun and drama she had all day, and were put to sleep in her nursery, and Steve asked Peggy if she's still pent up or not.
Peggy's fury and anger was all gone, but she was still fired up, and she took charge, with Steve happily following her orders all evening through the four rounds of lovemaking before eventually falling asleep and cuddling up at midnight.
In the morning, after breakfast and giving Susan to Phillps and Erskine, with Peggy telling
Phillips of her consideration about temporarily living in Paris, the couple went off to Holland to help the Allies with the Rhine River.
"Coup de grace...", Steve said as he and Peggy were onboard one of the transport planes by themselves. "The rest of the Red Devils of the British 1st Airborne is landing like a few miles away in
Oosterbeek from the actual bridges... Meanwhile we're the ones to take it... no wonder Phillips thought this whole thing was poorly planned.".
"At least I can fly and quickly get to XXX Corps to see how they're doing, or the 82nd Airborne in Nijmegen.",
Peggy reminded. "I just hope the intel was right about the garrisons being units of old men and young boys. More likely to turn and run compared to crack SS divisions.".
"If it's the SS, we'll take them out all the same as the rest. Those monsters have a lot to answer for; I've seen some of their handywork in France.",
Steve growled as he looked out the plane door to see the skies filled with air transports. It was about to snow in September for the Netherlands.
Peggy smirked, "We'll give those Nazi what's for.
We're getting close.", looking out the plane door as well, "Remember, you go giant halfway down while I flame on.".
"Hope those AA gunners are asleep right now or you might be having to carry me down.", Steve said as they saw their target far ahead. The Rhine River and Arnhem.
They could see by the town the main road bridge and a small pontoon one by it, while a rail bridge that was closer to Oosterbeek in the west.
"Head for that rail bridge! I'll take care of the road one and then you meet up... let's not give the Nazis a chance to blow them up and slow us down!", Steve called out as several AA guns started to open up.
The transport plane rocked from a nearby flak burst before Steve took a deep breath and jumped out. Peggy would fly out a few seconds later.
Steve fell to the earth below before he shifted to his 50ft height and slammed on the field only a few dozen yards away from the road bridge and just feet away from two AA guns that had been shooting at him. 'Care to surrender?'
, Steve asked the gunners in his German while the gunners quickly tried to rotate the quad-cannons. "Guess not.", he sighed as he quickly stomped down on the two guns.
Peggy flamed on, flew straight for the rail bridge, smirking to herself as she shot fireballs at some of the
AA guns on the way, blowing them up and their camps nearby of Germans while dodging the rest of the
AA guns, and dived up in a wide arc, then dived down, and with a grin, Peggy created a fire laser, hitting straight in a line through the rest of the AA guns, blowing up the engines themselves.
She then flew back, heading for Steve, flaming down and shifting to giant size, grinning as Steve made quick work of the German camps that was near the road bridge, and glanced around,
I think that's all the Germans on this side. You ready to build more bridges?", knowing that Steve was partial to drawing the Brookyln Bridge when he was younger.
