The third day of school.
Thursday, 3rd September.
The Ravenclaw will have a charms class with Gryffindor this morning and then a Defence Against the Dark Arts class with Slytherin.
Andy loved the charms class.
Professor Flitwick was very talkative and had a very kind personality.
Whenever he finished the class and left the young wizards to practice their spells on their own, he would always take the time to answer some of Andy's doubts on magic.
"Mr Collins, I've heard that you've succeeded in improving your Patronus Charm, can you let me have a look at it?"
Professor Flitwick looked very excited, "Honestly, if I wasn't worried about being too presumptuous, I would have loved to visit you at home during the holidays."
Erm ... home visit or something, Andy did have a bit of a psychological shadow.
That was a lifetime ago.
"Of course, I would be honoured."
Andy waved his wand, and the fat cat patronus sprang from the tip and stopped in front of Professor Flitwick.
"This is incredible."
Professor Flitwick was so excited that he was about to faint, he stared at the Fat Cat Patronus with two glowing eyes, "It looks like it already possesses a certain amount of intelligence. This is truly wonderful, I didn't expect the Patronus Charm to be able to do this."
"Hmm...?" Andy was a little puzzled.
Professor Flitwick explained, "Remember the Sorting Hat? It's not a simple thing to make an object have intelligence. That already belongs to the domain of alchemy."
Andy froze at his words, was that difficult?
The Sorting Hat, and the portraits in the castle, all possessed their own intelligence. They could even talk and possess independent personalities, emotions and preferences.
Including the car that Mr Weasley had modified and some of the magic photographs, they were considered to have rudimentary intelligence.
Andy had always thought it was quite common.
As if he could see Andy's doubt, Professor Flitwick smiled and explained, "The reason why the Sorting Hat is special is because it is different."
"Sorting Hat possesses creativity!"
Andy was dumbfounded.
Does the Sorting Hat ... possess creativity?
Yes! Indeed!
Every year at the opening dinner, the Sorting Hat would sing a song. That was a song that it had spent an entire year writing and arranging the lyrics and music independently - even though it was hard to listen to.
"Professor, you mean...?" Andy understood something but felt like he didn't understand anything.
Professor Flitwick explained, "Those portraits in the castle look as if they have intelligence, and can even communicate with us normally, expressing some preferences and emotions."
"But those are just pre-set."
"If I draw a portrait of you now and let you input your emotions and memories into the portrait, can you say that the portrait has intelligence?"
Andy thought for a moment and slowly shook his head.
That shouldn't be considered true intelligence, right?
That was just a programme designed using my memories and emotions.
It's like artificial intelligence.
"Only with creativity can it be called true intelligence."
Professor Flitwick looked at the fat cat patronus in front of him, "Your patronus is just like a newborn baby, its intelligence may not be high, and it may even be a bit clueless, but it's not the same as those portraits."
Andy frowned slightly and asked, "Professor, I remember that the Sorting Hat was originally just an ordinary hat, it was only when the four founders injected their thoughts into the Sorting Hat that the Sorting Hat had intelligence."
"What's the difference between it and those portraits?"
It was clear that the method of production was the same.
"Of course, there's a difference!"
Professor Flitwick said, "Although their production methods may appear to be the same, they're actually different."
"It's like the spell-casting you did just now."
"There's a fundamental difference between casting magic by reciting an incantation, and directly informing the magic power 'I'm going to cast a spell'."
Was it the fusion of emotions and magic power?
Andy seemed to have a realisation in his mind.
Professor Flitwick continued, "The portrait in the castle needs regular maintenance, but the Sorting Hat doesn't, it's even an alchemy item."
"And your patronus charm is even more special than the sorting hat."
When he said this, Professor Flitwick's eyes shone, "Alchemical life with true intelligence is rare, but it is not unheard of when you look at the magic world."
"But letting magic have intelligence ..."
Professor Flitwick's eyes radiated a light called 'obsession'.
Andy also looked at the fat cat Patronus, are you so awesome?
"Maybe you're right."
Professor Flitwick suddenly said, "The Patronus Charm, is a magic spell invented by an ancient wizard based on Obscurus."
Andy's eyes flashed.
Obscurus was a dark parasitic magic force, and it could even be considered a magical creature.
The famous Magizoologist, Newt Scamander included Obscurus in the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
The emotions and memories of a wizard fused with magic power, thus giving birth to a new kind of life ...
"Professor!"
Andy stuttered, "Is... is it dangerous?"
Obscurus was a life-threatening thing.
It was recorded in the book that none of the Obscurial who were parasitised by the Obscurus could live past the age of ten.
My Patronus, it shouldn't cost me my life as well, right?
"I don't think so. The Patronus Charm is a magic that has been passed down from ancient times to the present day."
Professor Flitwick guessed, "But I guess there shouldn't be too many wizards who can make a Patronus mutate. What's more, maybe you're the only one."
Only one?
Andy raised his eyebrows, maybe there was really a possibility.
Perhaps ancient wizards and modern wizards had different ways of casting spells, but one thing must be the same.
After the age of ten, the magic power in a young wizard's body would gradually stabilise.
"Don't think too much."
Professor Flitwick patted Andy's arm, "If you want to know if your patronus will be dangerous, just keep on researching."
Andy: "..."
You're not the one in danger, of course, you can say that.
After discussing magic with Andy for a while, Professor Flitwick was busy instructing the other young wizards again.
The appearance of the fat cat patronus had the little wizards talking, they had never seen such magical magic before.
What kind of magic was that?
What's the use of that fat cat?
Can we learn it?
All of these questions needed to be answered one by one by Professor Flitwick.
"Andy, is the Patronus Charm really dangerous?" Hermione was sitting next to Andy, so she naturally heard the conversation between Andy and Professor Flitwick.
"The Patronus Charm isn't dark magic, so how could it be dangerous."
Andy laughed, "If it was really dangerous, Professor Flitwick wouldn't have let me continue my research."
By saying that, Professor Flitwick was actually judging that the Patronus Charm was not dangerous.
"That's true."
Hermione nodded, then said with an expectant face, "I really want to see what your Patronus will become in the end."
Andy was also somewhat expectant.
This fat cat's current state, shouldn't it be in the process of gestation?
Should I add more fuel to the fire?
