Chapter 536: Sharon No Longer Runs Away

"So much!"

In Audrey's room on the second floor, her eyes sparkled with disbelief as she listened to Hastur's brief introduction of the dowry list.

She knew that Mr. Hastur no longer had to worry about financial issues, but she hadn't expected him to be this wealthy.

"Don't worry, I haven't robbed the kingdom's treasury," Hastur added, seeing Audrey's imagination run wild. "Nor have I exploited my position in Southwellshire to amass wealth. I've only collected normal commercial taxes."

In truth, Hastur himself wasn't entirely sure of his current net worth, estimating it to be around a few million gold pounds.

Each month, just from Southwellshire alone, he netted an income of ten thousand gold pounds. This was in addition to the considerable wealth he had accumulated from the previous Duke of Southwell.

This doesn't even include the wealth from the Church of the Yellow King. If one considers the entire southern continent as his domain, he is undoubtedly as wealthy as a nation.

To him now, money is just a number; he could never spend it all.

Besides, apart from Mr. Fool, no leader of a secret organization, let alone a deity, ever lacks money.

He didn't intend to use Mr. Fool as an example, but the topic naturally led to him.

"I'm very interested in how you managed to accumulate such a vast fortune," Audrey said, showing keen interest.

It was only after joining the Tarot Club that she realized how versatile gold pounds could be and how hard they were to earn.

"Come closer, and I'll tell you."

Hastur, sitting on a chair, motioned for Audrey to sit on his lap.

"I don't have to know," Audrey huffed, sitting on the edge of the bed and making a smug face at Hastur.

"Sigh." Hastur sighed, then stood up and lunged toward Audrey's bed. "Then I'll have to come to you!"

Audrey tried to escape but was pulled down onto the bed by Hastur.

Their eyes met for a moment. Audrey, her hands on Hastur's chest, naturally closed her eyes in embarrassment, her eyelashes trembling lightly.

Hastur, of course, wouldn't waste this rare opportunity.

Half an hour later, Audrey, her cheeks flushed, pushed Hastur out of the room, asking the maids to help her tidy up her clothes and calm down.

Outside the room, Hastur waited with Susie for twenty minutes before heading downstairs hand in hand with Audrey.

"How did your discussion go?" Countess Hall broke the somewhat tense atmosphere.

"..." Audrey glanced guiltily at Hastur, her eyes darting away.

"We've almost finalized everything," Hastur naturally took over the conversation.

"You young people will find it hard to manage a household in the future," Count Hall said, returning half of the dowry list to Hastur. "Accumulating wealth is even harder."

"Actually, accumulating wealth isn't that difficult," Hastur thought but didn't say, instead smiling, "We'll follow your arrangements, Father."

"Good." Count Hall nodded in satisfaction and chatted with Hastur about Southwellshire, subtly advising him to be cautious in accumulating wealth and not be too reckless.

Hastur could only nod obediently, a scene that made Audrey unable to hide her amusement.

...

At night, in the Hall of Stars.

Hastur tried to locate the star of the Pope of theEternal Blazing Sun Church.

If the Pope was indeed seeking a new sun and changing his faith from theEternal Blazing Sun, he would likely form a connection with Hastur, just like Lady Lisa.

If he couldn't find him, it would mean his faith wasn't pure and was merely superficial.

This was a good method of discernment.

Hastur's gaze swept over the tiny light points, each touch brief to save time.

After about ten minutes of searching, Hastur found the small light representing the Pope of theEternal Blazing Sun Church.

The light wasn't very bright but faintly glowed with a golden hue like the sun.

The faith was minimal but steadfast.

"I really found him."

Hastur observed for a moment before using his divine authority to fully touch the golden light.

He first reviewed the life of Pope Ross Hurley, then appeared in his dream as a phantom light.

"Who is it?" Ross Hurley asked instinctively, suddenly pulled into a dream.

"Aren't you looking for me?"

"The Holy Teacher of the Yellow King Church?" Ross Hurley's expression was serious, yet his eyes showed a hint of relieved ease.

Hastur didn't answer but pointed to the sky, where a golden sun appeared and began to move.

"The sun has always been here."

"That is the sun of all living beings, not our sun."

Ross Hurley bowed slightly, showing his respect.

"But you are straying from your sun," Hastur said softly.

"It was the sun that left us first. Without its protection, we would all perish in the winter."

"A new sun might not shine upon you."

"We only need a little light to survive, not daring to ask for more."

"You should have a better choice," Hastur said, referring to the upcoming replacement of theEternal Blazing Sun by the Supernova Dominator.

Even if theEternal Blazing Sun falls, the Supernova Dominator will still need sun worshippers.

As the Pope of theEternal Blazing Sun Church, he could wait for the outcome of the battle between theEternal Blazing Sun and the Supernova Dominator before choosing his stance.

"I always believe the newborn sun will be more benevolent," Ross Hurley said with more reverence.

"Newborn often means fragile."

"That's why I exist."

Talking to a smart person was effortless; Hastur understood the Pope's true intentions.

It was like giving help in a crisis versus adding to the success. Clearly, Ross Hurley chose the former.

"You might not see the day the new sun rises again."

"This is my choice, and I am willing to bear all its consequences."

With that, Hastur said no more. As he left, a beam of sunlight, comparable to theEternal Blazing Sun's radiance, enveloped Ross Hurley.

"I am bathed in sunlight again," Ross Hurley murmured with a smile, feeling the light from the sun's authority. "The sunlight seems purer."

In the Hall of Stars, Hastur ended the divine revelation, shaking his head and sighing, "I was just trying, but it seems I might actually seize the sun's authority."

The sun is one of the stars, but he had no advantage in acquiring the sun's authority.

Now, with theEternal Blazing Sun and the Supernova Dominator vying, the next battle would be between the Ancient Sun God and the Supernova Dominator.

His chances were slim.

But now, someone had chosen to bet heavily on him, giving him a glimmer of hope.

"I mustn't let Adam and the True Creator notice this. They are the best partners for now."

Hastur first thought of keeping this secret to avoid complications.

At least until Adam and the True Creator merged into the Ancient Sun God, he couldn't let them see this.

If he truly wanted to seize the sun's authority, there was only one possibility: hide his existence and wait for the Ancient Sun God and the Supernova Dominator to destroy each other.

After carefully considering this, Hastur withdrew his gaze and looked at Adam's star.

Adam, preparing to become a god, was no longer in the seaside church but had completely hidden, waiting for the tide of the era.

Hastur's gaze then swept over the stars representing the Mother Tree of Desire and other Outer Gods, confirming nothing unusual before leaving the Hall of Stars.

Tonight, he would still rest in Sharon's room.

He had wasted an opportunity last night; he couldn't waste another tonight.

When he opened his eyes, Sharon was standing by the window, watching the falling snowflakes and guarding Hastur.

"It's time to rest early tonight," Hastur said, approaching Sharon.

Sharon's body trembled slightly, then she softly replied.

"You're not making excuses to run away tonight?"

"I can't escape," Sharon's voice was low, tinged with a bit of grievance.

Hastur lifted Sharon in his arms and set up a barrier to prevent prying eyes in the room.

Tonight would be long, with soft murmurs surpassing the beauty of the falling snow.
