Ren glanced over the document in his hands and noticed an entry on the performance list that caught his eye. It detailed the use of 3D projection technology.
This technology involved projecting images onto a holographic film or reflecting them off such a film, using a dark background to make the film invisible and create the illusion of images floating in midair.
This kind of display was often seen on stages during major events like the Spring Festival Gala.
Normally, Ren would have just smiled and moved on. After all, since arriving in this world, he had seen countless such events, not just the gala but various concerts as well, where this technology was regularly showcased.
But recently, he had drawn Yu-Gi-Oh! as one of his new projects!
If he could integrate this technology into Yu-Gi-Oh!...
Ren turned to Jada and shared his idea with her.
"The type of projection you're talking about… with the tech we're using for our anniversary, it's not feasible," Jada replied, making Ren's excitement deflate.
Back in his past life, Ren fondly remembered buying bootleg Yu-Gi-Oh! cards from vendors outside his school with his pocket money and playing with friends. That's how he grew to love the series.
He once dreamed of owning a real duel disk that could project holographic monsters. He had always told himself that once he grew up and had a job, he would buy one.
Unfortunately, even up to the point he came to this world, such a device hadn't been developed.
"Forget it then," Ren said, waving his hand with a disappointed look like a wounded animal. Jada, noticing this, felt a twinge of sympathy.
Suddenly, an idea flashed in her mind about a proposal she had once turned down.
"By the way, I had a classmate who started a company that wanted me to invest. I didn't agree at the time."
The AR/VR industry had gone through multiple phases. While it was cutting-edge, it hadn't made significant technological breakthroughs and was considered a high-investment, low-return field—a money pit, essentially.
Picca Comics was just a manga company; there was no compelling reason to venture into electronic equipment, so Jada had declined, even though the pitch came from an old classmate. It wasn't a matter of a few tens of thousands; it would require constant funding—a bottomless pit.
However...
If her husband wanted to pursue it, she was willing to reconsider.
"Thanks, love!" Ren gave Jada a big hug. "I'll check it out. If it doesn't work, I won't push for the investment."
"Okay~"
"And to thank you, I'll offer you a project worth billions!" Ren said mischievously as he grabbed Jada's wrist.
Jada knew exactly what was going through his head after being with him for so long. A project worth billions? This guy just wanted to play around!
Her face flushed as she pretended to scold him, "I'm warning you, we still have files to—ah~~"
Before she could finish, Ren had scooped her up in a princess carry and laid her on the bed.
"You scoundrel, I keep putting up with you! And you just—"
"Next time, I swear I won't..."
"I'm taking the lead this time!"
(Two thousand words and various sounds are omitted here.)
The Next Morning
Jada drove away from the house, looking energized and refreshed.
Ren, on the other hand, rubbed his sore back while putting clothes into the washing machine. Watching Jada's car fade into the distance, he muttered, "Saying 'no' while nearly breaking my back… Hah!"
Women truly were tricky!
After finishing the laundry, Ren planned to visit the company Jada had mentioned.
The house was quiet, with only him at home.
His parents had taken their grandchild back to their hometown to spend time with them, fulfilling their wish to see their grandchild.
Yueyue was at school.
Everything was peaceful.
Tengda Network Technology Co., Ltd.
The company name boldly hinted at ambitions of great success, but its current state was dismal.
The office was a shabby two-story building.
The surrounding area looked so deserted that Ren half-wondered if he had stumbled upon a scam operation.
"Still…"
He checked the business card in his hand and compared it to the map on his phone. It was indeed the right address.
Just to be safe, Ren called Jada, sent her the information, and turned on his location sharing.
He didn't want tomorrow's headlines to read, "Famous Manga Artist Ren Trapped in Scam Operation."
After making sure everything was in order, Ren walked confidently into the company and met the so-called President Pei Qian.
She was a strikingly beautiful woman.
Ren was reminded of Xena, who now worked in Picca's game department.
It seemed he knew a lot of impressive female leaders. Truly, women were running half the world now.
After exchanging greetings, Pei led Ren on a tour of the company.
Ren noted that while the company was small, it had quite comprehensive equipment.
"Can I see some of the technology your company's working on?" Ren asked.
Pei led him to a storage room.
Inside, Ren saw the devices they had developed.
"This is our air projection interaction technology... It can project interactive images onto a wall of airflow," Pei explained.
Ren learned that the technology was based on mirage principles. By projecting images onto water droplets formed by condensation, with uneven molecular vibrations, it created images with depth and texture.
After explaining, Pei turned on the equipment.
Under the lights, a visible wall of airflow appeared in the middle of the room, projecting a model from the computer.
The model was detailed and realistic—impressive tech!
However, it wasn't the small, sleek device Ren had envisioned. It required significant space.
Still, Ren wasn't too disappointed. He asked, "Could your technology create card-based monster battles with visual projections?"
Ren elaborated on his idea.
Pei rubbed her chin, considering it. "Reading card data, generating 3D models, and projecting them onto a duel field to battle another player?"
"That concept is technically feasible. But developing a device that reads and converts card data isn't our specialty. Picca would need to find another company for that. Plus, the workload for modeling would be extensive..."
"That's not a problem!" Ren said with a smile, waving his hand. "Can it be done?"
"Yes!"
