Alice… Alice shrinks back into her chair, slightly guilty, but still raises her head defiantly.
Alger, unaware of this subtle movement, picks up the conversation naturally:
"Yes, I've heard about this incident as well. The Church of Storms is furious and has issued a wanted notice."
"I saw the notice in the newspaper too," Fors nods, manifesting the image of the wanted poster with Klein's help. "It says to be cautious of anyone wearing a monocle…"
As she speaks, Fors glances nervously at Alice—not because she suspects her as the culprit, but because Alice's description of Amon comes to mind.
Alger, Audrey, Emlyn, and Derrick follow Fors' gaze, all eyes now on Alice.
Only Klein feels a surge of realization—Wow, no wonder he gets along with Alice… Wait, were they together at the time?
A foreboding feeling rises in Klein, so he manipulates "The World" and asks, "Miss Destiny, were you there at the scene?"
Alice replies confidently, "It was Amon's doing."
Her evasive response only intensifies Klein's suspicion. He again manipulates "The World" to ask, "Miss Destiny, did you have any involvement in this?"
Alice's eyes dart away for a second.
Unable to hold back, Klein calls out in the gray fog, "Destiny?"
Cattleya observes with a slight frown.
From the attitude of the Tarot Club members, Cattleya senses that they're all fairly familiar with Miss Destiny's identity and personality. But…
What in the world is "The World" doing, interrogating a god?
Even if this deity appears as a young girl with the personality of a child—and probably lacks complete authority and power—she is still a god.
Cattleya glances briefly at "The World" and keeps her doubt to herself.
When Klein stops using "The World" to question her, Alice realizes she can no longer evade the issue.
She turns to the head of the bronze table and answers firmly:
"The Church of Storms' wanted notice—wasn't it about Amon? It was Amon, right?
"Did Amon ever deny it? No, he didn't, did he?
"So, if both Amon and the Church of Storms believe it, there's no problem at all!"
Klein closes his eyes in frustration in the gray fog, takes a deep breath, and, without hesitation, blocks the perceptions of the other members. Glaring at Alice, he asks, "Did you use Amon's body to do this?"
Alice gazes up at the ancient palace ceiling.
Klein rubs his forehead, resisting the urge to ask how she got tangled up with Amon. Instead, he grits his teeth and asks, "What about Amon's clone?"
"Sacrificed to the goddess," Alice answers confidently.
Klein recalls his earlier speculations while reading ancient god legends, suddenly feeling a hint of sympathy for the goddess. He shakes off the thought and asks, "What about the donation box?"
"Tossed it," Alice says even more righteously. "I remembered to add anti-divination."
Klein opens his mouth, takes a deep breath, and asks again, "And the money inside…?"
Alice thinks for a moment, then nods seriously. "The goddess and I split it."
"Huh?" Klein's eyes fill with mild confusion.
Alice answers confidently, "I stuffed those random foreign coins into the church's donation box…"
Klein takes a sharp intake of breath, suppressing his reaction as he finally asks, "What did the goddess say?"
Alice thinks and replies, "She marked it as read."
After a pause, she purses her lips, "I get the feeling she doesn't really want to talk to me…"
"You can drop the 'I feel,'" Klein says bluntly. "If I were the goddess, I wouldn't want to talk to you either… In fact, I don't want to talk to you right now."
Alice tries her best to look pitiful, her big, watery eyes turning toward Klein.
Klein watches Alice for two seconds, adjusts his posture, and then lifts the block.
Perfect, now everyone can see Miss Destiny looking suspiciously like she's pouting.
Alice falls silent under the sudden attention, then bares her teeth and glares at Klein. Angrily, she kicks a table leg and then shrinks back into her chair, pretending nothing happened.
Alger, Fors, and Audrey quickly avert their gaze to spare Miss Destiny embarrassment. Emlyn and Derrick follow their lead.
And Cattleya? She doesn't dare think too deeply. At the sight of Alice's expression, she lowers her head even faster than Alger—getting noticed by her is never a good thing.
No one realizes just how hard Fool is trying not to laugh in the gray fog.
To ease the awkward atmosphere, Alger, after a brief pause, brings up the fall of "Sea God" Kalvetua.
The topic shift works. After hearing the story, everyone follows Cattleya's gaze to the Fool.
The "World," delayed by Klein's control, glances at Alger to cover the lag.
Knowing "The World's" character, Alice can't help but blurt out, "Are you about to acquire a Wind-blessed extraordinary characteristic?"
Alger freezes entirely.
The other members, from "The World's" past actions and Alger's reaction, quickly piece together the situation, and silence falls.
In the gray fog, Klein's mouth twitches—he understands Alice's hint perfectly, but that wasn't what he meant at all!
After a moment's thought, Klein decides not to respond through "The World," instead chuckling lightly and leaning back. "Kalvetua relied on the relic of 'Queen of calamity cohinem to become a demigod."
He pauses and turns to Alice, his tone hinting at amusement. "In that way, Kalvetua might be a little luckier than you."
Alice, reminded of her own journey to becoming a beyonder , hesitates. Now, knowing more, she replies thoughtfully, "But the Kalvetua you speak of only became a demigod, right?"
As one of the senior members familiar with Alice's pathway and how she became a beyonder, Alger suddenly recalls a question he had from long ago.
Was the god of the fate pathway a child before he became a god?
