"Why not? It is the truth. Don't you want to hear the truth?" I reach out and graze his arm lightly. "What I feel for you is scary, Jericho. Terrifying in fact now that you don't believe a word I say anymore."

He studies me. I'm thrilled that he didn't pull away from my touch. "Do you regret what happened between us?" he looks conflicted, like he is bracing himself.

"That what happened?"

"That we slept together? That you let me knot you?"

There's something about this vulnerable side of Jericho that speaks to me. It makes me want to soothe him. Comfort him. Reassure him that he is enough. I'm not sure but maybe growing up in an aggressive family with a brother like Sasha is what makes him doubt himself. But I know that beneath the false perceived bravado, Jericho is one very sensitive and insecure alpha.
