After she and her mother had finished having dinner and Diana was now asleep before Fiona finished from the bathroom, Fiona tucked herself under the thin, worn quilt, the dim glow from her phone screen the only light in the dark studio apartment.
The rhythmic breathing of her mother, Diana, beside her was a comforting reminder of the fact that her mother was now safe and well beside her and was no longer in the confines of a hospital bed.
She glanced at her mother's peaceful face for a moment and she couldn't help feeling grateful. She smiled, at her before turning back to her phone.
Because of everything that had happened during the day and how she had gone to bed quite early the previous night, she had been unable to tell Elena about the recent development in her relationship with Liam.
And seeing as her mom was already asleep, she decided to text Elena instead of calling her.
