Feng Ruoxi stirred awake, the soft morning light filtering through her curtains. As consciousness gradually took hold, she felt an odd twinge - a remnant of her host's emotions, perhaps. These newfound uncles seemed to have left an impression on her original self's psyche, a connection that lingered even now.
Shaking off the feeling, Ruoxi prepared for the day ahead. Soon, she was walking alongside Xia Xingxing through the gates of First High School, their conversation light and easy as they discussed upcoming exams and study plans.
"I still can't believe the college entrance exam is so close," Xingxing sighed. "It feels like we just started high school yesterday."
Ruoxi nodded, about to respond when she noticed something odd. As they passed groups of students, hushed whispers erupted in their wake. Curious glances and not-so-subtle pointing followed them down the hallway.
"Xingxing," Ruoxi murmured, "is it just me, or is everyone acting strange today?"
