Nigel maintained his normal work routine during the two weeks, simultaneously going through every theory present in the book he had earlier memorized. He also went to Diagon Alley in search of a book on spell creation, but unfortunately, he didn't find any. Such a book would have helped him better understand spells.Ultimately, he decided to search for it at Hogwarts when he would go there. He subscribed to the Daily Prophet to know current hot events happening in the wizarding world and was relieved knowing that Kreacher can bring the newspaper every day.He also asked for previous year Newspapers to know how and what is going on, and he did it within two weeks.
Now the day finally came after two long weeks. He took the Knight Bus for a trip to London Borough of Islington. From there, he covered the journey on foot to maintain secrecy to 12 Grimmauld Place. When he entered the estate, Kreacher appeared with a bang, while bowing his head.
"Good morning, master," greeted Kreacher.
Nigel acknowledged his presence and greetings with a nod of his head.
"Hmm, you cleaned the house pretty well, and what about the furniture? Any need for repair or replacement?" asked Nigel, acknowledging Kreacher's hard work in cleaning the estate.
"Yes, master, the kitchen needs repairing. The floor and stairs started making creaking sounds. And lastly, the sofa in the hall needs to be replaced," answered Kreacher.
"I will look into it," Nigel said, acknowledging the tasks.
"Did you fix the master bedroom for my stay as I stated?" asked Nigel.
"Yes, Master Nigel," replied Kreacher.
"We're done, Kreacher. You should accompany me to the orphanage to bring my luggage," Nigel said, his tone calmer than his usual cold tone.
"Yes master," replied Kreacher, shyly like a child praised by his father.
'Haa, thank God I didn't thank or show my gratitude to him, only mildly acknowledging. Otherwise, he would have an emotional breakdown as nobody had ever thanked him or something like that. That much drama is dangerous for my health,' thought Nigel.
After that, Nigel and Kreacher departed for the orphanage.
Upon returning, Nigel confirmed that no muggles could see the magical creature by their ignorance of Kreacher's presence.
Having already packed all his things, he ordered Kreacher to take all his belongings to the estate.
After that, Nigel went to the caretaker.
"Ma'am, I am very grateful to you for taking me in when no one else did, and for protecting me all these years. But now, I should move on," Nigel said to the caretaker.
The caretaker was shocked by this. "Why so sudden? Did they offer you a hostel or something?" she asked, referring to Hogwarts.
"No, ma'am, I am shifting permanently, but I will visit you sometime," answered Nigel.
"Then where are you going to live?" the caretaker asked again.
"Ma'am, I found out that parents have a house in that locality so I'm going to live there. I completed all the formalities. Here are the forms; sign them," replied Nigel, looking her in the eyes.
The caretaker took the file, examined it, then signed it and gave it back to Nigel before pulling him into a hug.
"Don't forget that the orphanage will be your home forever. Whenever you need shelter, just come here," said the caretaker while hugging Nigel.
And then she left.
Nigel boarded the bus and started thinking, 'Well, it was easy to show her that the whole document is original and implant the idea that it's actually a reality. If anyone tries to read her mind or use a pensieve, they will only see the same thing I showed her because it was indeed in her brain. You can say that this is probably a weakness of both because they can only see, feel, or read what their brain actually did. If a person with great resolve and will he can lie during the effect of Veritaserum. Only it took one look in her eye, and she is already under my illusion. I can't wait to try it on magical people. Hogwarts would be a suitable place for testing it; there would be a variety of test subjects to play with,' Nigel thought.
Nigel woke up from his thoughts when the bus reached the London Borough of Islington. Nigel paid for the bus and left for 12 Grimmauld Place. During the last visit, he didn't take a look inside the estate, so he decided to give it a look.
Front entrance:
When a wizard who knew of its location approached number twelve, Grimmauld Place, it appeared to shove its neighboring houses, number eleven and number thirteen, out of the way as it appeared between them. The house had a worn set of front steps leading to a battered front door. On the door was a silver knocker in the shape of a twisted serpent, but it had no keyhole, handle, or anything else that would indicate it to be a door, as it opened only by magic.
There was a doorbell — a "loud, clanging bell" that tended to awaken Walburga Black's portrait inside. When one left the house, the building vanished behind them the instant they reached the street.
The front door opened into a long hallway, lit with gas lamps and a large overhead chandelier. It was described as having been a grand entryway at one time, complete with ornate portraits on the walls, but by the time Nigel visited the house, it was gloomy and cobwebby, with the wallpaper peeling off and the carpet worn thin.
Of all the portraits, the most prominent was an enormous portrait of Walburga Black, stuck to the wall via a Permanent Sticking Charm, which had taken to screaming at the top of her lungs whenever she spotted "Mudbloods", "blood traitors", and "half-breeds" in her house.
Much of the decor in the entry hall was in the form of serpents, though there was also an umbrella stand made from the severed leg of a Troll, that was particularly prone to knocking over by half-bloods or Muggle-borns.
Grimmauld Place Dining Room:
The dining room at 12 Grimmauld Place
On one side of the hallway was the dining room, which contained a long wooden table with chairs and hanging light fixtures. It also featured a dresser holding the Black family crest and china.
At the end of the entrance hall, facing the door, a grand staircase led to the upper floors of 12 Grimmauld Place. The wall on the stairs was decorated with a row of shrunken house-elf heads, mounted on the wall on plaques. These were former servants of the House of Black who had been beheaded when they had become too old to hold a tea-tray; a tradition begun by Elladora Black.
DESCRIPTION OF THE KITCHEN OF GRIMMAULD PLACE
A door at the far end of the entry hall, a set of narrow stone stairs leads to the basement, and the house's kitchen. Though less ornate than the floors above, the kitchen was still a large, "cavernous" room with a large fireplace at the far end. Iron pots and pans hung from the ceiling above, and a long wooden table sits in the center of the room, large enough to fit a couple of dozen people around it for a meal.
Also in the basement, just off the kitchen, was a prison, large enough for 10 people to capture comfortably; and another cupboard off the kitchen housed the boiler for the house, as well as Kreacher's den, filled with rags, smelly blankets, and photographs of the Black family.
DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING ROOM
On the first floor, there are at least three rooms.
The drawing room was at one time exquisite, with large windows overlooking the street in front of the house, a large fireplace flanked by two ornate glass-fronted cabinets, and an entire wall covered with a tapestry of the Black family tree. In the summer of 1995, though, the room mostly just needed a good cleaning, as the curtains were filled with doxies, the writing desk housed a Boggart, and the dark items in the cabinets — from snake skins to bottles of blood to boxes of Wartcap powder — were ready to put up a fight against anyone trying to clean them up.
DESCRIPTION OF ONE OF THE UPPER BEDROOMS
The second floor housed 3 rooms. One of the rooms have two twin beds and a wardrobe, and like the rest of the house, were gloomy, had lofty ceilings, and had a doorknob in the shape of a serpent. On the wall was a portrait of Phineas Nigellus Black, and in the corner, there was a wastebasket that coughed when owl droppings were placed in it.
The second one is the room for Lord Black and can only opened by Lord Black.
And the last one was library,
Stepping into the Black family library, one is greeted by a thick layer of dust covering every surface, casting the room in a hazy gloom. Cobwebs hang like delicate veils from the ceiling, obscuring the intricate carvings of the dark wood paneling. The once-grand decor, with its velvet curtains and ornate tapestries, has faded and dulled over time, the colors muted and the edges frayed.
The shelves sag under the weight of neglected tomes, their spines faded and their pages yellowed with age. Books lie scattered haphazardly, some with cracked bindings and others swollen from exposure to moisture. The musty smell of decay hangs heavy in the air, mingling with the faint scent of mildew that permeates the room.
Magical artifacts, once gleaming with power, now sit dull and lifeless. Metal surfaces are tarnished, gemstones dulled, and enchanted mechanisms frozen in place from lack of use. Fragile items lay broken and forgotten, their significance lost to time.
The once meticulously organized collection is now in disarray, with papers strewn about and artifacts misplaced. Any magical protections placed on the library have weakened over time, leaving the space vulnerable to intruders.
Standing in the center of the neglected library, one can't help but feel a sense of sadness at the sight before them. This was once a place of knowledge and power, but now it lies forgotten and abandoned, a mere shadow of its former self. Restoring it to its former glory will be no small task, but it is one that must be undertaken if the legacy of the Black family is to endure.
The topmost landing is probably the fourth floor, and on this floor were only two doors: one leading to Sirius's room, and the other to Regulus's. The latter was marked by a sign on the door — "Do Not Enter Without the Express Permission of Regulus Arcturus Black."
Nigel thought of entering his father's bedroom at last.
Sirius decked his room out in Gryffindor colors and banners, and posters of Muggle motorbikes and bikini-clad girls.
When he opened the door of his father's room.
The room was completely opposite of Sirius's.
The Slytherin colors of emerald and silver were everywhere, draping the bed, the walls, and the windows. The Black family crest is painted over the bed along with the family motto: Toujours Pur, which is French for 'Always Pure'. An old Slytherin Quidditch team photograph adorns one of the walls, featuring Regulus, the Seeker, sitting in the middle of a crowd of Slytherin students. When Regulus was a strong supporter of Voldemort, he collected newspaper cuttings about his idol and stuck them together to form a ragged collage.
Over time, the room grew dusty, and the newspaper cuttings turned yellow.
Kreacher kept aside the following things which he believed to be dangerous.
Known objects listed:
- An ornate crystal bottle with a large opal set into the stopper, full of what appeared to be blood.
- Boxes, made of tarnished silver and inscribed with languages Nigel did not understand.
- A dusty box containing Arcturus Black's Order of Merlin First Class.
- China with the Black family crest and motto.
- Rusty daggers.
- Family photos in silver frames.
- A grandfather clock that shot heavy bolts at whoever passed by.
- Spider-like tweezers, which scurried away and tried to puncture Harry's skin.
- A piano.
- An unopenable locket which turned out to be Salazar Slytherin's Locket.
- An enchanted music box that played a faintly sinister, tinkling tune that, when wound, nearly knocked everyone out.
- A large and golden ring bearing the Black family crest.
- Ancient purple robes that tried to strangle.
- Several ancient seals.
- Mounted House-elf heads.
- Coiled snakeskin.
- A silver snuffbox filled with Wartcap Powder that tried to bite everybody.
- A nest of dead Puffskeins under a sofa.
