The conversation continued as Roswaal turned his attention to Subaru, before saying. "Now, you're the last one, similar to how Mister Love here, did you can make one request and if it is in my power, I'll get it done."
This made Subaru go into deep thought before he looked at Emilia, then Nilcaris who gave him a thumbs up, and then Elsa before going back to Roswaal. "I would like to ask that... You let me, Nil, and Elsa live here for as long as we feel like it."
"Oh, so you two planned this? I hope you're not involved with the robbery of the insignia, I would rather not kill any promising young people." Roswaal made his suspicions clear just to make sure the guests didn't get a little too comfortable.
Behind him, Ram looked rather dissatisfied for an instant before going neutral, while Rem had a light twitch on her face that was barely noticeable.
At the same time, Emilia was still looking at Nilcaris, worry written all over her face.
"I can assure you that I was not involved in the attempt, and actually, my servant has information that might help with that." Nilcaris pointed at Elsa as he spoke.
As he said, the attention of the room, turned to the woman of the hour.
"Master, you shouldn't throw a task like that at your servant, it's in poor taste to make me talk of my last employer. I would rather not say, but I will if you insist, I will." Elsa smiled as she looked at Roswaal.
"My, my, it seems the mystery remains, so long as it was not you, it should be fine, so, I'll believe in you, for now," Roswaal said in his singing-like voice with a slight smirk.
(This bastard, pretending he knows nothing...) Nilcaris shook his head internally.
[What else did you expect from this shady guy?] Genive questioned clearly not surprised.
(I didn't expect anything else, it doesn't mean it's not annoying.) Nilcaris sighed in his mind.
After all of that was resolved, the meeting was dismissed and once Roswaal left, Emilia came to Nilcaris, Subaru following behind.
"Nil, please refrain from making jokes or comments about the witches, it's insensitive, so don't be a cumberworld, you dunderhead!" Emilia in her frustration at his earlier actions, winded up with her arm pulled back, then punched his shoulder but it did no damage as she put no actual force behind it, doing it more so for the theatrics.
"I'll keep that in mind, but I got to say, It's funny to see, how a little bit of Natsuki is rubbing off on you." Nilcaris chuckled at the half-elf's behavior while Elsa silently watched from the side.
"Really? You think I'm influencing Emilia-tan? That sounds like a VIC-TO-RY, to me!" Subaru was all smiles feeling proud in the results of his actions, giving her a look like a proud bad influence.
"... I donnnnnnnnn't know about all that, but I think I got this from Puck." Emilia shook her head with a slight pout.
"Ah-hem, I'm sorry to interrupt, but Lord Roswaal has asked that we guide the guests to their rooms." Ram walked up to them and announced, side-eyeing Elsa as she spoke.
Giving Subaru and Nilcaris a rough look for a second, Rem forced a professional smile and then added. "As my sister says, it is late into the night, and after such an eventful day, It is best to not delay your sleep any longer."
So, Emilia gave them goodnight and went to her own room, Leaving Ram and Rem to guide Elsa, Nilcaris, and Subaru.
It took a bit of time, and they saw more of the decorated walls and halls of the mansion.
When they reached the correct bedroom area, each of them was assigned a room 3 doors from each other.
"Why are our rooms separated by 3 other rooms each time?" Subaru asked as he looked at his room.
"This is to prevent any problems that might arise due to the imperfect sound isolation of the manor, dear guest." Ram explained with her slightly annoyed expression showing itself.
"What kind of weird assumptions are you making about me?" Subaru raised his eyebrow.
"I wouldn't dare dear guest, but since you ask, you seem to be a poor, good-for-nothing pathetic virgin loser freeloader who takes advantage of kindness, but that's just a guess and I would never actually mean such words." Ram's expression had a tinge of maliciousness that betrayed her true feelings.
"Hahahha, I mean she's not completely wrong." Nilcaris laughed at the comments.
"What?! All that? Where did the virgin part even come from?!" Subaru was stunned then he looked at Nilcaris, and, "What about, Nil?"
"I don't have any specific thoughts on him, but if I were to say, a witch-obsessed lunatic arrogant fool with a death wish, would be something like that, if I were to say." Ram didn't have a single problem talking about either of them.
"Hahaha, I guess she's not totally wrong, right?" Subaru teased back.
The silent Rem just looked at the two a bit of disgust showing on her face, but it was soon erased for a business smile.
"Master, I'll be heading to my room, enjoy your time with your... Friend..." Elsa smiled as she headed into the room designated to her, Ram watching her every movement.
"Rest well, we'll have some work to do tomorrow." Nilcaris nodded.
"... Honestly, I still don't understand how you did, I never thought that scary lady would listen to anyone, but as a fellow man, I get why you would want her around, and I respect it, just remember the sacred rule." Subaru put his hand on Nilcaris' shoulder.
The mention of a sacred rule got Rem and Ram curious though they didn't show it they started paying attention. Even Genive was listening, not to mention Elsa even though she was inside her room.
"What are you talking about?" Nilcaris narrowed his eyes in confusion.
"How could you forget the holy rule known to all the men in our lands?" Subaru looked disappointed in his fellow man.
"Just say it already." Nilcaris knew that whatever it was, it wouldn't be serious otherwise he would know immediately.
"The word of caution to all man, wisdom that transcends time!" Subaru dramatized as he perked up causing all the listeners to pay extra attention, and then said. "Don't stick your dick in crazy."
(Of course, it was some bullshit like this... I'm sorry to tell you, Subaru, but all the women in the re: zero world are crazy... Well, maybe not Crush... But yeah for the rest my statement stands.) Nilcaris thought to himself.
[Aren't you exaggerating a bit? Then again, they tend to be a little quirky....] Genive commented.
(A little? Yeah, right...) Nilcaris nodded internally.
The girls were disappointed as Subaru said nothing of value, on the contrary, what he said could be easily viewed as quite rude to them.
"We'll be taking our leave, please enjoy your stay." Ram bowed and then began walking away.
"Take care." Rem also bowed before following her sister.
After that, Nilcaris sighed and headed to his room. Finally, Subaru headed to his own room.
During the night, Nilcaris entered Elsa's room only to get jumped on, and have the bowl hunter sit on sit lap area as she pressed a dagger to his neck.
"Is this a way to welcome your master?" Nilcaris asked still calm.
"Apologies, dear Master, I thought I was being ambushed, but if it is you, I guess I don't mind, even if I would have liked it if you knocked before coming in." Elsa got up, and helped him up as well.
"Fine, you do have a point, but I didn't want to make too much noise at this time of the day." Nilcaris sat on her bed.
"I see, well, what brings you here at such a time? Know that I won't give you my body just because you're my master if that's your goal, though I don't mind helping you find relief in slightly less intimate ways." Elsa smiled moving her hand up and down as she spoke.
"Tempting, but I'm here for serious matters. Tell me where your friend you wanted me to protect is, so we can deal with the situation by tomorrow... Well, later today if possible." Nilcaris said as he looked at her eyes, though he would glance all over her body.
"Quick to uptake? Then so be it, she's in a small village in the Mathers territory, and if you get us there, I'll soften her to the idea of serving you, though I will kill you even if I die as well in case you do anything to her." Elsa expressed with utmost seriousness.
Nilcaris got up and walked up to her, then grabbed her face by the cheeks before. "You really like her, huh, who would have known, that even the bowl hunter could look like a cute worried young lady."
Elsa's eyes widened momentarily as he grasped her face, the tension in the room palpable. Her usual cold demeanor falters for a brief second, revealing a flicker of genuine concern and vulnerability. She quickly composes herself, though her eyes soften slightly as she looks at the amethyst-eyed young man, not bothering to escape his hold.
"Meili is...important to me," she admits, her voice low but firm. "She is more than just a tool or a companion. I will not allow anyone to harm her."
"I can see that..." Nilcaris nods acknowledging her feelings, his hand still on her face.
"If you truly intend to take her under your wing, you must understand that her safety and well-being are non-negotiable. My loyalty to you is bound by our oath, but my care for Meili goes beyond that." Elsa's gaze locks onto his, a mix of determination and wary trust in her eyes. "Prove to me that you can protect her and guide her as you claim. Only then will I fully trust your intentions." Her voice carries an authoritative weight, emphasizing the seriousness of her words.
"I'll do so tomorrow, you'll see how things will be handled." Nilcaris's face was but 1 cm from hers, as they stood eye to eye even though she is taller than him.
"I have seen many betrayals and deceptions in my life, Master. Show me that you are different, that you can be the leader you told me, you aspire to be." The room falls silent, the gravity of the conversation hanging in the air as Elsa waits for his response.
"I'm a man of my word, I'll find a way to bend the world to my will without losing anything, after all, a greedy selfish man should always want more, and never truly lose." Nilcaris pushed her to the wall, eye to eye, and even though she was stronger, she simply allowed the moment to take place.
Elsa's eyes bore into his, a mixture of curiosity and amusement flickering within them. She remains still, her back against the wall, her usual predatory demeanor softened by the intensity of the moment.
"A greedy, selfish man who wants it all," she murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper. "It's a dangerous path you walk, Master, but one that suits you well." She tilts her head slightly, her gaze unwavering as she studies his face, searching for any sign of deception.
"Of course it does, it's the path I've decided to lead a long time ago," Nilcaris whispered into her ear.
"Very well," she says after a long pause, her tone almost approving. "I will trust in your word, for now. But remember, the stakes are high. If you falter, if you betray this trust, I will not hesitate to act." Her lips curl into a faint, almost teasing smile, though her eyes remain serious. "Show me this world you intend to bend to your will, Master. I am eager to see how you will achieve it."
The tension in the room slowly dissipates, replaced by a mutual understanding and a newfound sense of trust, however tentative. Elsa's gaze softens slightly, though her guard remains up, ever watchful and ready.
"Good girl," Nilcaris whispered in her ear as he let go of her a teasing smile on his face.
Elsa's eyes flash with a mix of surprise and something else—perhaps amusement or intrigue—as he whispers in her ear. She remains perfectly still, allowing the moment to linger before a sly smile curves her lips. "Careful, Master," she replies, her voice low and filled with a playful edge. "Flattery will get you far, but it won't change who I am."
She steps back slightly, her expression shifting back to its usual composed and predatory demeanor, though there's a glint of something warmer in her eyes. "Now, if there's nothing else, I should rest. Tomorrow will bring new challenges, and I must be ready."
With that, she inclines her head respectfully, waiting to see if he will have any further instructions or comments before she settles in for the night.
"Sleep well." Nilcaris smiled as he left the room.
[That was something... How about a warning next time...] Genive sounded flustered as she complained.
(What? Don't tell me you're afraid of sex.) Nilcaris expressed in a teasing manner.
[Of course... NOT!... It just feels awkward to just be there watching...] Genive's blush could be heard through her voice.
(Hahaha, you could have just said you want to join in, don't worry, I have enough lust and stamina for everyone, I just need to find a way to get you a body for that, don't worry, I'll get to it.) Nilcaris licked his lips at the thought of it.
[Stay away from me!... I mean, a body would be a nice experience... So, please do, Master.] There was reluctance in her voice, but ultimately she wanted it.
(Look at you, acting all cute, just leave it to me.) Nilcaris made his way to his room.
The first night in the Roswaal mansion was a peaceful one, and Nilcaris intended to keep it that way.
Shining bright in the sky, the sun rose for a morning, and a morning breakfast took place between those in the mansion.
"I hope the night was enjoyable, and now that you have rested, I'll tell you that you have to be ready for trouble if you want to stay here. The royal selection is not a simple matter and if you are not ready to be involved you should leave before the week of the week." Roswaal expressed with a casual simplicity despite the gravity of his words.
"You can stop it there, I'm here to stay and you can't scare me away, right, Emilia-tan?" Subaru smiled as he spoke to her.
"... Yeah, I guess so... But I've been meaning to ask since yesterday, but I forgot during our morning exercise. What does Tan stand for?" Emilia asks curious about it, today wearing a more everyday outfit compared to the day before.
"It just means Emilia is a cu-tie! The best, it's just a way to show how much you mean to me." Subaru responded without giving a concrete answer.
A move that caused Emilia to smile as giggles escaped her mouth.
At the same time, the amethyst-eyed young man also gave his answer to Roswaal.
"I'm more than ready to deal with something like that, don't worry. Actually, I'm going ou on a walk with Elsa. Is anyone else interested in coming?" Nilcaris offered with a smile.
His uninformed servant could only sigh accepting her master's whims. Today, having had access to a proper wardrobe, Elsa was wearing a promiscuous dress like the last one, but it was white and grey instead of black and purple.
"Is that so? Since you two insist then I won't stop you. As for your offer, not only am I far too busy, I have no interest in such." Roswaal nodded in acceptance, a slightly sinister-looking look on his face.
"I would go, but I'll be a bit busy today, I'm sorry." Emilia had a sincere expression as she spoke.
"I promised to help Emilia-tan today, so no can do either." Subaru smiled apologetically.
Roswaal gave Ram a sneaky glance and stepped forward. "I'll be accompanying you both, as someone more familiar with the area, I should be of help."
Once the breakfast was done, Nilcaris, Elsa, and Ram headed off to Arlam, a village located in the Mathers territory.
"What exactly do you want to do there?" Ram asked sometimes glancing at Elsa as they walked.
"I'm going to recruit a new servant." The amethyst-eyed young man says, which causes Elsa to smile ever so slightly.
"You can't indoctrinate the residents of this territory into whatever perversions you believe in, dear guest, or I'll be forced to show you the way out," Ram replied seeming adamant in her voice.
"I won't convert anyone to anything, don't worry." Nilcaris was not worried at all.
Not much else was said, and they soon reached their destination.
In the village, there were stones and wooden houses, and people went about their daily routine, not minding the newcomers much.
"So, where is she?" Nilcaris turns to Elsa, but before an answer is said, a little girl with blue hair approaches them and smiles at Elsa.
"... Miss... You... Y... You l-look really pretty." She said seeming rather meek, and shy.
"Here she is, hi Meili, don't worry, it will be fine, we have some important stuff to discuss." The bowl hunter hugged Meili and even lifted her into her hold.
Nothing left Ram's mouth as she just observed for now.
"Let's go to a quiet place." Nilcaris decided and then let Meili take them to her current house.
In no time, Nilcaris, Elsa, and Ram were with her in a simple house at the end of the village.
(Time to make the most out of it, and soon, I'll be grinding.) Nilcaris smiled as he thought.
It was time for Nilcaris to recruit a new servant.
