"What do you mean you're not coming with me? I thought the system assigns us the same task," Kia said with a frown.

After the sun had set, the group returned to seek shelter back in the abandoned house which they had cleared and ensured was safe.

Now only Kia and Logan were inside the SUV, with Logan in the driver's seat, driving the vehicle. Today's task was to retrieve a power source from an old, abandoned power plant located on the outskirts of the city, crawling with infected. He had no idea what it was needed for, but it wasn't like he had a say. He had thought Logan was coming with him, which would have made it bearable, only to find out he was going alone.

"I thought so too, but I guess it's not always how it works," Logan replied calmly, his eyes focused on the road ahead as the SUV rumbled over uneven terrain.
