After dinner, it was already half past nine when Nathan got back home. Having finished work, he hurried home, eager to see Ava's smile. He had helped her greatly, and he was sure she would be very appreciative once she found out.
Nearly two hours past the end of the workday, Nathan sat in the living room, waiting anxiously but Ava did not return. Was she not coming home tonight, or had something dangerous happened?
Uncertain, Nathan debated whether to call Ava. Just then, there was a noise at the entrance—it was her.
Upon entering, Ava saw Nathan sitting on the sofa, reading the newspaper. She frowned. Why was he still in the living room at this hour?
Tired from the day, Ava had no energy to wonder about Nathan's thoughts and silently passed by him.
Nathan sensed Ava's mood was off. "Ava!" he called out.
Ava paused and turned her head slightly. "What is it?"
