The edge of the bed sunk slightly as he sat down. Caroline looked at him with high alert and licked her lips nervously.
Eddison looked at her, gentleness swirling in his gaze. After a while, he whispered, "I'm here to accompany you. I won't hurt you."
Caroline wanted to tell him that she was doing fine, but it was obvious that she was not. She was afraid of lightning and thunder, so it was useless to hide it in front of Eddison and his sharp eyes.
She decided not to speak.
Eddison was feeling tense. He pursed his lips again and looked at her with an even gentler gaze.
He whispered, "Caroline, just think about it. I was the one who went to the office to take you home this afternoon. You slept in my arms for an hour. Do you still remember? Think about the warmth we had together."
Caroline's gaze darted around. She didn't quite understand why he mentioned the events from this afternoon, but she really began to replay the fragments of their time together in her mind
