Bel opened her eyes and might as well have kept them closed. She couldn't see a thing, but that was the least of her concerns as she whimpered in anguish. She couldn't scream out because of the state of her jaw, but that didn't seem to be the only cause of her burning pain.
Her right arm hurt so much, she wanted to rip it out. She could vaguely remember the vampire called Jack telling the other vampire to break her arm, and he had done as ordered. That was when she blacked out from the pain.
Her eyes moved around, but her vision didn't improve. She tried to move into a sitting position, supporting the broken hand with her good one, but the pain was so excruciating that Bel fell back onto the floor, gasping in pain. From the sound the floor made as she fell on it, she could tell it was wood, but not only that—the floor was moving. Bel's eyes widened. Was she on a ship?
