"You can't remain cooped up in your room, Bel," her mother said, standing in front of her bed while Bel remained seated on it. For the past couple of days, since she had been in the castle, she hadn't left her room.

"You said you had something important for me," Bel interrupted.

"Yes," she nodded. "I have been able to gather potential suitors, at least the ones still available. Your sister suggested throwing a ball to get more—"

"No," Bel said. A ball would take too long, and she didn't want to have to talk about how her marriage had failed with anyone. Besides, she wasn't great when it came to social interaction—Hazel was better at that. Bel wasn't looking for a husband; she was choosing one.

"Bel, I don't think being in such a hurry is the best—"

"The names, please," she interrupted.
