"I don't mind," she said, wiping the corner of her lips. She stood up from the dining table and moved to the couch, but Davien didn't move a morsel. He just sat by the table, watching her.
"Say, did you ever get around to reading the rest of my cards?" he asked with an amused expression. She wondered if he had cheered up.
"No, I threw them out," Bel said without hesitation. "I asked Giselle to set them ablaze. I thought about using the fireplace, but the smoke would have been irritating."
"That's too bad," he said. "You missed the opportunity to see my great artistic skill."
"Yeah, right."
"Yeah," he said absentmindedly, then his expression turned serious. "Is there something you'd like? Something you'd like me to do for you?"
"Why?"
"What do you mean, 'why'? If there's something you want, I can get it done. I just realized you never really make demands and you just go along with my whims."
