With the basic building assembled via the system, Julius next moved on to the foundations of the very city itself.
With the population increase as a result of the incoming soldiers and future sailors, the city's food stores will need to grow in reaction to the expected crop yield growth thanks to the systems assistance and the bonus given by the Civil Service Tech.
So Julius placed a series of Granarys around the city so that proper food storage could be performed allowing for a safe place to keep the city's valuable food stuffs, and different from all the other buildings this one utilized his Engineering tech by having storage up to 4 stories underground, the deep you go the colder it would be so acting like a natural refrigerator in a sense allowing for meats to be stored up for longer.
Next up was the creation of the first public library, admission was set to just a single silver to enter but upon your leaving if you didn't damage the books you'd be returned 9 bronze so the true cost was incredibly cheap.
The system pre-stocked the library with tons of books as well, so if the citizens could see their value the tech points should be rolling in, in no time...
Well, that would be if the normal commoners could read that is.
Next came the enhancement of the walls, the creation of a lighthouse, stables, and the list goes on, by the time he was done, Julius was out of build points but looking at Tideshore now compared to before it was a totally different city.
However the good times were quickly coming to an end, while he was taking a break from his city management, Julius pulled up his [World Map] and noticed a series of non-territorial forces crossing the borders and not being stopped by his own, all of them seemed to have one general destination in mind.
The Eternal City.
*Sigh*
Seems the fun of building my nation is going to come to an end, as the true test of a grand strategy master begins.
Diplomacy...
And worse Diplomacy is when everyone is fully prepared to stab one another in the back.
Just from looking at the map now there must be at least 10 nations coming for visits all at once.
Since it's going to take him at least a week to return unless he intentionally rushes, Julius sent a command via the System to Miri who was still stationed in the capital.
She was granted the new title of Ambassador, with this title she was now a high-ranking member of Julius's court and responsible for dealing with all foreign dignitaries in Julius's absence.
Luckily she was not alone in this, as the System would allow Julius to set her role protocols.
Such as what she was and was not allowed to do as Ambassador, for example, if the nobles coming were beyond rude he could make it so she could not declare war on their nation, or instead allow her to come up with prepared treaties for Julius to sign upon his return.
There was a limited number of advisors Julius could assign, and while he could replace them pretty much anytime, if their Loyalty was less than 100 they would take a significant hit when they were removed from their advisory role.
If they were over 100 then that would make them perfectly loyal and nothing Julius did could cause their loyalty to fall.
Advisors were valuable, Since the game itself was real-time just like real life in the later stages there was generally just too much going on to be able to stay on top of it all, attempting to rule the world is a tricky endeavour of course.
With her current stats and high loyalty giving her the role as the Ambassador was a pretty good choice, with a bit more time her loyalty would cap locking her in, and with her unknown limit of intelligence she would be able to have very intellectual discussions though in some cases a decent command level is also required.
With the newest port city having been upgraded Julius's reason for being in this part of his country was now over, while in a perfect time he'd be able to mill around saving up build points to then create the forts for his perfect security net, however that would need to wait, he could erect the forts that were along the way assuming he'd have enough points but a true tour of his lands would have to wait.
With the present climate, it'd likely be around 3 months before things settle down enough to allow The Grand Duke to once more leave his own Capital to properly administrate his lands just like a proper player should.
"Zeff our time here is over it's about time we start heading for home don't you think?" <Julius>
"Gotcha boss...! Miri's gonna love this bear eating a fish I found!" <Zeff>
Zeff walked off all proud to know we'd be going home muttering about how happy Miri would be when he finally got to unload all his souvenirs on her, but for Julius all he could see was a poor uneducated commoner who just bought a bunch of tourist targeted garbage...
Zeff's thoughts aside the boy was diligent as he got straight to packing up the supplies needed for their journey back while also informing the necessary men who'd be providing the Grand Duke escort through former Bridget territory now redubbed as the province of Brigandia, Julius had created his first province using the name of the province name from Earth, however the 3 new provinces he'd created well he tried to incorporate parts of their original names and closely match them ones from earth as well.
Familiarity is best after all, plus when he named the provinces they gained a public sentiment boost by incorporating the original name into them, and oddly enough a synergy boost for having the same naming scheme.
That wasn't in the original game...
Just what else changed?
