章節 60: Chapter 60: ERIC

Realizing that writing about the MC killing regular vampires, I realized that it can only be so interesting. So let's see what it's like for the servants on this side of the war. maybe will do a vampire Pov if enough people wants it so +1 here and I will do it in later chapters.

Hey, I'm Eric. Currently, I'm traveling towards what our intel suggests is a significant vampire nest. There are a full 50 of my brothers and sisters accompanying me, each of us marching in perfect synchronization, almost like we're some kind of hive mind. It's something I found quite peculiar when I was first transformed by the commander, but honestly, I've grown rather fond of it. It renders the need for communication or any form of leadership almost useless in combat.

This proved invaluable. Whenever an ooze beast appeared to block our path, five from our ranks would calmly peel off to confront it while the rest of us continued our march. Those who stayed back swiftly caught up, rejoining the procession from the rear, affording them a moment's respite, as whoever was at the front took charge of dispatching any oncoming ooze beasts. This scenario had already played out several times, including when four others and I swiftly seized our opportunity against what appeared to be a mutated mess, once a vulture.

As usual, I harnessed the magic coursing through my body, shaping it into a longbow of crystal-clear ice, the string woven from pure magic itself. With a fluid motion, I materialized a meticulously crafted arrow of ice in my right hand, drawing back the bowstring as I took aim. It struck me how all my comrades, though lacking the ability to summon a ranged weapon like mine, possessed the skill to wield standard ice magic. This was a testament to the relentless training regimen instilled in us by the commander, who drilled us tirelessly until we could conjure a spell in less than three seconds.

This made dispatching the ooze beast laughably easy. Despite its agility, it struggled to evade the barrage of ice spikes launched by my siblings. Its movements became predictable, allowing me to utilize the archery skills honed through years of daily training. With precision, I punctured the bird's wings, rendering it unable to fly properly. Subsequently, my siblings swiftly subdued the creature, capitalizing on its compromised mobility to land decisive blows.

Thus, we pressed onward with our arduous march, which had already spanned two days, for another two days. Eventually, we reached the base of a sizable hill, where our intel suggested the potential vampire nest might lie. Initially, our search yielded nothing, until one of our group stumbled upon a gaping cave mouth leading into the hill. The cavern extended deep into the earth, its depths shrouded in darkness. At that moment, a comrade whom I had fought alongside stepped forward, revealing himself to be a seasoned miner before his transformation. He noted signs indicating that this might have once been an abandoned mineshaft. A collective groan rippled through our group, for such tunnels could serve various purposes, from staging ambushes to facilitating escape routes.

Despite the lack of further complaint, we ventured inside, with those possessing melee-focused abilities leading the way. A few remained at the rear, poised to react to any potential ambush. As we descended into the depths of the abandoned mineshaft, the darkness enveloped us. Yet, for us, it was as clear as day, for we all possessed the ability to see in the dark.
