章節 18: Chapter 18: Watch of souls.
I race through the woods running to a familar chakra signature. 'Sakura. 'Mother' doesn't seem to have gotten to her yet.' This is the best scenario possible.
I tentatively grab the soul watch from my hoodie as I speed up a notch.
The silence is deafening under the blistering rain. It's like that for a few seconds until I feel her chakra.
Mother's attacking.
I'm fast enough to see a white haired woman die. 'Lighting needle. Also known as Katsuko Hozuki, why is she here?'
My head tilits to the side where I locate Sakura crying on the floor. It doesn't take much to figure out why.
Before my red haired enemy can move, I flicker towards my sister and activate my golden watch.
It shakes from side to side as I hold the silvery-golden chain in my left hand. It clicks like a ticking bomb every second.
I look up to see my 'mother' looking confused, then smiling as usual.
Tick. Tick.
Our green environment changes to a pristine white. It's an empty space, only me, Sakura and my 'mother' reside within it.
Soon enough, a white cloaked monster appeared with an odd item in its mouth. It had monstrous horns and an unusual skin colour.
I freeze completely and 'mother' did the same. The entity looked around, almost as if sniffing the stale air.
Tick. Tick.
It roared intensely then sprinted off to who knows where. I got lucky. 'The shinigami was acting a lot different then usual but at least it didn't ask for a game.'
If it did, I'm not sure I could win.
I activate the watch once again and teleport away from her. Though just before I leave, I see her mouth the words....
"Fake."
I can't deny that claim.

.
"Hey, Sakura." She looks up at me. "It's time I tell you a few things." She doesn't say anything. 'Her eyes are dead.'
"Fine, I'll keep it short." I take out another watch identical to the one I used before. "Please listen. If you ever encounter her again, click the side of the watch. Okay?"
She doesn't respond.
"Sakura! I'm serious about this." I can see her slowly nod. 'She's a strong girl, I was much too blind in the past.'
"That woman is my mother and yes I'm your cousin. But....I still think you're a sister to me." After I let go of all my hatred for the person you resemble so much.
"A-aaa-!" She jumps up and grabs the watch. She looks it at with some sort of malevolent yearning.
"Remember your friends at Konoha. Sasuke and Ino. Shikamaru even." Sorry, I can't tell you about Itachi just yet. You need to recover first.
"A-aa! Uh...o-okay." Strong little girl. She seems to want to say more, so I sit on the floor and wait.
"T-thank you. For, not abandoning me."
I had no words.
'I'm glad I stopped thinking that Sakura was like her. Mother's the one I hate.' I wonder.
"Did you learn that Genjutsu?" She slowly shook her head.
"I-uhm, know the theory. I don't have enough chakra!" She squeaks the last part out.
"It's fine. Let me teach you something that you can definitely use." Her eyes have gradually gotten lighter.
I get up and lightly stretch before walking up to a tree. I focus everyone muscle in my body and move my fist back.
I stare at the tree for a second before I throw my fist and unleash...
A BLACK FLASH!
The tree gets eradicated and only crumbles of bark remain from the explosion. I can already sense Sakura in awe.
I turn and say, "Did you sense any chakra?" She hastily shakes her head. I grin then sit down next to her.
"What makes up chakra?"
"Spiritual and physical energy?" She's not stuttering. Guess I successfully distracted her.
"Exactly. What I used is a technique called black flash."
"How was it made?"
"That's the funny part. During the 2nd shinobi war one of our clan members along with a Yamanaka made the technique on the battlefield."
She tries to understand but I can tell she's not getting anywhere.
"The Yamanaka Clan are known for their yang justu which heavily involves spiritual energy."
She nods.
"So the founder of the technique was given spiritual energy by accident from the Yamanaka and they unknowingly used it for a black flash."
"Oh! I see. How do I use spiritual energy?"
"First you need to gain an understanding of spiritual energy which is what makes a soul. It will take a while but I know you can do it."
"Yeah!" Though, it took me 4 years to actually make one. However, I'm fake, you're real. So, I know you can do it faster than me.
"You're ten right?"
"Uhuh!" I really need to stop forgetting her birthday. "What does the black flash do though?" Can't belive I forgot to explain that.
"It uses spiritual energy which then distorts into physical energy. And that physical energy also goes into the user giving them more stamina."
"Cool!" Her legs are practically shaking.
"However, if you were dying and landed a black flash, it wouldn't save you. It would only give you physical energy. You have to be careful to not run out of spiritual energy or you'll die."
Her face darkens significantly.
I look up at the dark sky with the occasional cricket chirping. We're currently outside Kirigakure's borders.
"I'm sorry but I'll have to leave you here. Just run ahead and you can find someone who will lead you to Konoha."
"B-but!"
"I'm off to meet a bird. Remember, stay away from 'mother' okay?" I stopped considering her my mother a while ago.
"O-okay. Please come back!" I will.
I run away with the last soul watch in my pocket.
