Carissa felt the weight of Nikki's words bearing down on her, a mixture of defiance and frustration bubbling within her. As their eyes locked in a silent battle of wills, Carissa braced herself for what was to come.

Nikki's voice was low, yet laced with an unmistakable edge. "I really am not the Nikki you once knew," she murmured, her tone dripping with bitterness.
