"How does your power work?" Valerie asked Alice as they entered the woods. Denzel had allowed them to practice on their own for the first time, so Valerie wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

"It usually begins from my hand. The moment it starts turning red, then it's hurting. More like burns."

"How does it hurt?" Valerie inquired, needing the details. They stood facing each other but with no particular direction in mind.

"Like I'm roasting my hand in fire," Alice described. Valerie felt guilty and saddened for all the times she used her powers.
