章節 9: Chapter 9
Upon hearing Lily's advice, both Shu Kori and the red-haired thief were surprised. Just then, the couple appeared before them, said their grateful thank yous, took back the purse and called for the cops.
As she watched the thief being arrested and dragged away, Lily was much more cheerful.
Standing beside her, Shu Kori noticed the change in her features, causing him to chuckle. "Didn't know you were so kind-hearted."
Lily looked at Shu Kori. She was kind-hearted? How come she didn't know that? She simply thought that the red-haired guy was a huge humiliation to professional thieves like herself. Stealing required technique and skills, not brute force. Once caught, a thief should still be proud and admirable. The red-haired guy didn't have the basic foundation of being a thief, which was why she had to help him look for it.
Lily waved her hand. "If you don't have the skills then you shouldn't go out acting like you do. Such an embarrassment!" With that said, she hummed a random tune and cheerfully walked away to find a good restaurant for lunch.
Shu Kori furrowed his brows. So it wasn't because she was kind-hearted but because the red-haired thief was embarrassing to the eyes. Her reasoning was contrary to an ordinary person's reasoning but at the same time, it further piqued his interest.
The night was beautiful. The city was lively and bustling with activity under the starry skies.
Xia Lin sat alone at a bar as she swirled the liquid content in her hand. She watched from the sideline while Lily was on the dance floor, moving her body excitedly to the house music. A small smile formed on Xia Lin's lips. Initially she thought Lily was upset with her but truthfully, Lily hadn't even thought about being angry. Besides an exquisite, hearty dinner was the resolution to everything.
"Hi! Xia Lin, why aren't you dancing? Dance a song with me."
Xia Lin turned towards the arrogant man beside her. Smiling, she replied, "I don't know how to dance, but you go and enjoy yourself."
"How can that be? We invited you so you need to participate too. What's the point of us dancing alone?" Another man piped in. They were the group of rich guys Xia Lin had met at the university earlier in the day.
When Lily disappeared, Xia Lin had become uneasy and anxious. She searched for Lily everywhere but could not find her. Seeing Xia Lin in a state of panic, the guys didn't want to lose the opportunity and offered to help her. They took her around San Francisco with the pretext of helping her find Lily. In reality, they simply wanted to get closer to Xia Lin.
Unable to get rid of them, Xia Lin was forced to accept their invitation to the bar as a way of expressing gratitude.
Xia Lin frowned. She really didn't want to interact with this group of guys. As she looked for Lily in the crowd, she made sure to keep a distance between herself and the guys.
"If you don't appear, Xia Lin is going to be taken advantage of." In a corner of the bar, Shu Kori observed Xia Lin's discomfort as he explained to Su Luo with a grin.
The moment Xia Lin entered the bar, Su Luo had already recognized her. He hadn't expected to see her at this bar. As he watched those guys surrounded Xia Lin, making her anxious and uncomfortable, Su Luo's face darkened and he promptly stood up.
"Wait, look." Zhong Ni, who had his back towards Xia Lin, climbed onto the the sofa's armrest and pulled Su Luo back, signaling him to look in Xia Lin's direction instead.
"Just one drink, Xia Lin. At least have this one drink and give us some face."
Xia Lin looked at the two guys before her with a conflicted expression. Biting her lips, she accepted the drink. Since they personally asked, it was difficult for her to decline. She didn't notice the strange look in the two guys.
"So thirsty!" The glass hadn't even touched Xia Lin's lip and was suddenly snatched away from her grasp. It was emptied in one gulp. Seeing that it was Lily, Xia Lin grinned. "Are you hot?" At the same time, she signaled the bartender for a glass of ice water.
Lily's mouth curved up as she spoke to the two guys in front of Xia Lin, "Sorry I drank your guys' drink."
The two guys looked at each other and burst out laughing. "No problem. It's even better than you didn't reject it."
"How stupid! How can she just carelessly drink it?" Watching Lily gulp down that drink, Shu Kori's face turned black as he stood up and walked towards her.
Zhong Ni and Su Luo looked at each other, exchanging raised brows.
"I thought you're very capable but it turns out you're just an idiot." A cold voice spoke up, speaking over the loud dance music.
Lily furrowed her brows.
After finished talking to her, Shu Kori turned towards the guys. "How dare you touch my people?"
The guys looked at one another then smiled perversely. "None of us have laid a finger on her. However, Young Master Qi, we've done you a deed."
"Who were you thinking of fooling?" Su Luo was already standing beside Xia Lin.
