"Why isn't the instructor replying to me?"
Lin Xi peered up at Pei Jinye stealthily. Before she could say anything, however, Pei Jinye suddenly stood up and asked, "Want something to drink?"
Lin Xi was startled.
She instinctively looked around.
"You can eat here in peace; no one can harm you," Pei Jinye said calmly.
Lin Xi's expression was tense, clearly on edge due to being constantly on the run, always on the alert for danger.
Eventually, under Pei Jinye's tranquil gaze, she averted her eyes and whispered, "I don't drink. Go and come back soon."
Pei Jinye hesitated for a moment before slowly nodding.
When he disappeared down the corridor,
Lin Xi didn't resume eating. Instead, she fixed her gaze out the window at the street below, silently counting the numbers and waiting for Pei Jinye to appear within her vision.
But when she reached the 88th second, Pei Jinye had not appeared.
She was taken aback.
Somewhat frantic.
