*Kiara's POV*

As my father paced the game room in silent thought, the click-clack of his polished shoes on the marble floor echoed like the ticking of a clock counting down to my impending chastisement.

Someone had told him. I just knew it. I could swear he knew that Adriel was here, though he never asked about my new pet. I could tell he also knew it was from him. What made me all the more worried was that he hadn't said anything about it yet.

"Let's play." He uttered, taking a seat across the ready chess table, waiting to be moved around.

As I sat before him, I felt like a pawn in his game, awaiting his next move with a mixture of apprehension and resignation. He was planning something, and my heart ached to know what it was.
