He was thinking about his feelings that somehow had become numb and didn't have any sympathy or empathy toward those people he had killed.

He looked at the dead bodies in front of him with their eyes wide open filled with fear, and yet he didn't feel anything. He killed not only men but women and teenagers as well even though they were just living peacefully and didn't participate in the race of climbing the tower.
