SHADOWS PAINTED EVERY INCH OF THE SPACIOUS bedroom, giving it an eerie atmosphere. Despite the fact that it was morning time, and just about everyone in the neighborhood was starting to get ready for their tediously normal days, the room was still completely black. This was due to the curtains of the only window in the room keeping the dreaded sun out of it like a dam holding back rushing water. The room itself was pretty bland, with not many decorations or personal items on shelves and such. Really all that was there was a bed, a medium-sized desk, another table with some blankets on it, and a nearly empty closet. By looking at the contents of the room, you'd never believe that this was where a teenage girl tended to spend most of her time. Yet that's the truth.
On the plush white bed, nestled in the corner of the room, sat a petite teenage girl wrapped tightly in her fluffy blanket. Seeing as it's a Monday, she should be heading out to school, but she was currently having her routine debate about whether she should actually go or not. It was a normal occurrence for her since she would much rather wallow in the shadows away from everyone than be forced to go to school. However, society demands that she gets an education at her academy, to her dismay.
The blinding light from the hallway broke through the shadows as her bedroom door opened up. The teen nearly had half the mind to hiss out in displeasure at the white light, but kept herself in check and just hid further in her warm cocoon.
"Oi! If I have to go to school, so do you!" The one who had opened the door, a young boy who was at least fourteen-years-old, shouted as he stomped into the room. His squeaky voice bounced off the walls giving the teenage girl a bit of a headache. Her brother was always a cause for most of her migraines during the day. The younger black-haired boy jumped on the pile of blankets on the bed with a war cry before starting to wrestle around with it. "Get up! Get up! Get up! Get up! Akari!"
Though he only ended up finding that he had just tangled himself into his older sisters blankets. She was nowhere to be found inside of the cocoon. He stopped his wrestling and sat up on the bed to see his sister standing at the end of her bed with an unamused expression. Her striking yellow eyes stared at her little brother with obvious disdain, though she just huffed in resignation, obviously accepting her fate.
"Get out... So I can get ready..." Her voice was soft, so soft that it sounded like it drifted off into the wind just as it left her lips. She waved her hand lazily which caused a few tendrils of darkness to untangle her brother from her blankets and toss him onto the floor.
The middle schooler whined out in pain, "Waah! Onee-chan is such a bully!"
His fake tears didn't do anything for her, if anything, it just annoyed her further. She sighed loudly and crossed her arms over her chest, "Rikuto."
The boy rubbed his bruised behind and hobbled out of her bedroom. All the while, he grumbled under his breath about his 'mean older sister'. Akari sighed at her brother's behavior and shut the door once again by just moving her hand. Once again, she was greeted happily by the darkness. Now, you might think that she might not be able to see in the darkness... However, that wasn't the case. Thanks to her god-given abilities, she could easily navigate through the shadows.
Though you're probably a bit confused. After all, it isn't normal for anyone, let alone a teenage girl, to be able to throw someone across the room with a wave of a hand or close a door without touching it. You see, this is because she has supernatural powers!
Sixteen years ago, a little girl was born to Miku and Yamato Watanabe. Now there wasn't anything strange about Miku's pregnancy(we're in an anime, not a Netflix show, I know what you're thinking), but once their darling girl was born it was quite obvious that she wasn't completely normal. Shadows tended to cling to her as she liked to linger in them, she was able to disappear and reappear from one dark corner to another, while she could manipulate the shadows to hide in. Overall, their precious ray of light was more or less a beacon of darkness.
Though neither Miku nor Yamato saw it as a bad thing. If anything, Miku saw it as an advantage for her daughter later in life. After all, supernatural abilities could definitely be beneficial for just about anything. Imagine how far their little girl could get in life with powers like that. Yamato eventually accepted it as a part of his darling little girl after a little bit. He was hesitant at first and completely unsure what to think about it, but embraced every part of his girl, even if it was supernatural. Since her abilities weren't exactly destructive or anything, at least, as he knew of, then he would not think of her badly. So Akari lived her life peacefully with the ability to manipulate shadows. Even if some people might view her strange powers as evil or demonic, Akari still kept what she could do to herself. Well, relatively to herself.
Akari quickly got dressed in her PK Academy uniform and grabbed her school bag. She prepared herself with a long breath before finally opening up her bedroom door, ready to finally face the dreaded day. There weren't many things that she looked forward to in the day, especially at school. Going out only meant that she risked gaining any sort of attention. You see, Akari hated gaining any attention to herself. She didn't like talking in front of her classes or talking with anyone in general. Not only was Akari extremely shy, but she also got annoyed quite easily. Not talking to anyone always lessened the chance of getting annoyed or gaining both negative and positive attention.
She glided down the hallway and stairs towards the kitchen. Her small feet barely made a sound on the wood floor as it seemed like she floated along the ground, much like an actual shadow. Akari entered the main room to find her mother sitting on the couch talking heatedly on the phone, her father cooking up a storm in the kitchen, and her brother gorging himself on his breakfast. Well, you should probably know who is in the Watanabe family. Mother, and breadwinner, of the family, is the strict Miku. She worked in an extremely successful financial firm, actually, she's the CEO of this financial firm. She's always swamped by work and prides herself on her work ethic. She had long black hair that was always pulled up tightly in a bun on the top of her head, not a piece of hair was out of place. Her sharp green eyes could strike fear into just about anyone which usually helps her at work. Everything about her was professional to an extreme degree. She always wore a black pencil skirt, a neatly ironed button-up shirt with a matching black blazer. It was like she didn't own anything else to wear. Though that's enough about her, you'll learn more about her later in the plot.
"My darling light! Come eat some breakfast!" Yamato Watanabe exclaimed while sliding a plate of freshly made pancakes, gourmet eggs, and golden toast in front of his oldest child. As a former five-star chef, Yamato always loved to cook meals for his family in the morning, or anytime. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! His short salt-and-pepper hair swayed in front of his joyful blue eyes that were filled with an immeasurable amount of energy. His toothy white smile blinded just about everyone who had the pleasure of seeing it, which was just about everyone. Yamato tends to like to smile, like a lot.
She gracefully sat herself down at the counter and started to take small bites out of her breakfast. Next to her, her younger brother who was stuffing his mouth to the point where it looked like he might choke. The middle schooler always ate like this though, so it wasn't that surprising or alarming. The short-haired thirteen-year-old wore his black uniform for his middle school which was just about nearly drenched in syrup. If there was one thing that Rikuto loved, it was eating. Especially the foreign food that his father loved to cook almost every day. Unlike his older sister, he didn't have yellow eyes, instead, he had inherited his mother's eyes. Though they were far more vibrant than hers. He had the same hair like his father, which actually made him look more like Miku and Yamato's child than Akari did. Really the only similarity that the teen had with her family was the fact that they all had black hair. Still, her hair was inky, almost like oil, unlike theirs. Add in the fact that her skin was pale to an extreme degree, which was contradictory to their slightly tanned skin.
Akari nodded her head, "thanks, dad."
"I want those finished by the time I get to the office, got it!?" Miku shouted into her phone before violently hanging it up. An irritated aura surrounded her as she seethed about something work-related. Though no one wants to hear about that, so let's move on. She sighed out loudly before abruptly standing up from the couch and walking over to the kitchen hastily. She quickly placed a kiss on each of her children's heads and grabbed her lunch from her husband's waiting hands. "Thank you, sweetheart. Have a good day at school, you two. I won't be home until late, like usual. Bye." With that, the businesswoman rushed out of the house after grabbing her things and already on the phone once again. Miku is a very busy person, seeing as she's a CEO, so it was even a surprise that she was able to say goodbye to her family before she left.
Akari finished up her breakfast and moved to put her dishes in the sink. She quietly walked over to grab her school bag, ruffled Rikuto's hair as she passed him, and kissed her father on the cheek. "I'm leaving now, see ya."
"Bye, bye my sunshine!~" Yamato called out after her with a tear in his eyes, 'it's always so sad to see my little girl growing up.' Rikuto just mumbled out a goodbye through his mouthful of food which earned a disgusted look from her. She stepped out of her home with a long sigh, 'I wish I didn't have to interact with anyone, like ever.'
'You're not the only one.'
Akari didn't jump at the sudden smooth voice that suddenly entered her mind. All she did was nod her head. 'I guess that's why we're friends, huh? Ku-kun?'
Yes, Saiki Kusuo was now standing at the gates of her home, just like he had done every day since the two teens had first met. The psychic certainly wouldn't do this for just anyone or allow someone to call him a friend. Though are you surprised that these two are friends? I mean, this is a Disastrous Life of Saiki K fanfiction... If you didn't think that, then you're quite stupid.
The inky-haired girl slipped down the stairs and joined her one and only friend on their journey to school. This was a daily occurrence ever since the two of them became friends when they were little. Really, they were the only people that they tolerated. For Kusuo, that meant that she was in no way annoying, unlike everyone else. You could say that they probably bonded over their shared goal of not gaining attention. Plus she usually helped him whenever he wanted to hide or something. It's a pretty good relationship that the two have, though neither of them would really say that out loud. Besides that, It was still an unspoken fact between the two.
So they went about their day as normal. Well, as normal a day can go for a psychic and shadow manipulator. It was as boring and uneventful as any other day. They did their best to avoid those who would bring them attention or annoy them. So overall, things were pretty alright. So here the pair were, walking side by side as they made their way home. The only thing that was really different from their usual boring walk was the fact that Kusuo saved a dog by levitating the van that was going to hit it.
Akari tilted her head in thought, 'It's a good thing that you were passing by, or that dog would have surely died.'
Kusuo shrugged his shoulders, though no one would really notice it since it was so minuscule. 'I guess that's true.'
Soon enough the two turned down their road and found an interesting sight. Saiki Kuniharu, Kusuo's father, sat outside his home, obviously locked out once again. For some odd reason, Kusuo's mother, Saiki Kurumi, decided to change the locks every once in a while just to lock out her husband. Of course, Kusuo was a psychic so he wouldn't be locked out of the house so it was only to mess with her husband.
"Oh, you're back!" The glasses-wearing, brown-haired editor jumped up at the sight of his pink-haired son, "What took you so long? I was wondering if you could open the door for me. I couldn't get in."
"Really?" Kusuo sighed out in frustration and exasperation, "Again?"
He had done this far too many times for his father to count. It was really starting to get annoying. The trio walked up the front steps and towards the mahogany door. With a raised hand, Kusuo used his psychic powers to unlock the door without even touching it.
Kuniharu glowed at his son's achievement, "That's my little psychic! Such amazing lock picking skills!"
"I'm not a burglar," Kusuo stared at him blankly.
"Kusuo," A dark look consumed his father's face as he seemed to start to think about all of the things that Kusuo could do with his powers. Moreover, the darker aspects of his son's powers. "I think you can do something amazing with your powers."
"Keep those thoughts to yourself."
"Ku, is that you?" A gentle voice called from inside.
Kuniharu jumped before sprinting into the home, "We'll talk more about this later, Kusuo!"
The two teens glanced into the house already seeing Kusuo's parents starting to fight each other. For some odd reason, for a year the once love-sick spouses had been at each other's throats. It happened so suddenly that not even Kusuo had much of an explanation for it.
Akari tilted her head before pursing her thin lips. She definitely didn't want to be around to witness a domestic between her friend's parents, again. "Hm, have fun with your parents." All she wanted was to go back to her room, finish up her school work, and nap before supper. She could easily do that since her house was right across from the Saiki household. Sure they may have agreed to go to his house, but his parents were fighting just as they were walking in, she didn't like hearing shouts like this. Then again, going home also didn't seem that appealing.
Before she could fully turn around and head home, Kusuo placed a hand on her dainty shoulder. "You're suffering with me." He pulled her through the door and she didn't put up much of a fight. Sure, she could just slip out of his hold by turning her physical form into a shadow to escape, but she didn't. Not only did he most likely have the power to stop her, but Akari was too lazy to actually use her own ability.
"Why did you change the lock again?" Kuniharu asked as anger was quite evident from his expression.
Kurumi disregarded her husband and instead turned to the two teens who were passing by the kitchen. Kusuo was more or less unaffected by the shouting while Akari shuffled her feet after him uncomfortably. She always hated it when people were loud for any reason, even more so when people were angry and fighting. "Welcome home, Ku! Hello, Ka-chan!" The petite woman exclaimed happily. Her short black swayed elegantly as she looked at the two kids with a closed-eyed smile. "We're having pork cutlets for dinner! You can join us Ka-chan, if you want!"
"Stop ignoring me!" Kuniharu shouted out, "And we are supposed to have steak today!"
"Oh, is that so? So sorry!" From her tone, it was pretty obvious that she wasn't very apologetic, "How about I fix you a leather shoe?"
"Why would I want a shoe?!"
Akari and Kusuo continued to disregard the fighting couple as they headed up to the boy's bedroom. The two wanted nothing more than to just be left by themselves as they did their work before eating. It was quite the normal occurrence for Akari to go over the Saiki's house or for Kusuo to go over the Watanabe's house. Unfortunately, they decided to stay at Kusuo's house today since Akari's younger brother is having some friends over. So it was between having to endure through the Saikis petty fights or suffer incessant annoyance from a group of middle schoolers. It was a toss-up.
The inky-haired girl gracefully sat down on the edge of Kusuo's bed as he took a seat at his desk. Silently, the two pulled out their work and started working on it. Sure, you might be wondering why Kusuo would be working on his school work as you know he could do it with a snap of his fingers. Though it wasn't like Akari could do that too. She had supernatural powers but she wasn't as powerful as her friend. So to let it be fair, Kusuo had always done his work at a pace that would be considered reasonable or at least close to Akari's pace. It was decided after some time of tolerating each other that Kusuo wouldn't excessively use his abilities around her. Though she made it clear that she didn't care if he used them or not, he still did it(for some strange reason, one that I'm quite sure you know already. Read the summary of this story, make your own deductions).
Even though the two of them were silent and only occasionally made short comments to each other telepathically, the atmosphere was comfortable. See these two didn't need to constantly talk with each other to feel comfortable around each other. Each enjoyed silence so much that they understood each other's want to not speak with each other. Of course, it wasn't like they didn't talk at all. In fact, when she got going, Akari could go on and on about certain topics. Though most of the time, she'd just rather stay quite. Curse her shy personality.
Now, you would think not talking with each other wouldn't elicit any bonding between friends. However, because of Kusuo's powers, he was able to find out just about everything about Akari. And to be fair, Akari was able to learn a bit more about Kusuo than he usually tells people. Thus, their friendship worked beautifully.
---
"Time to dig in!" Saiki's mother exclaimed happily after placing the delicious meals she had cooked on the table. "Help yourself!"
With school work now done, the Kusuo and Akari happily settled down for dinner. Just as she said, Kurumi had made pork cutlets and rice for dinner. Akari had just started to eat her rice when her friend's parents started to go at it again. She tried not to take notice of it though. The teen just distracted herself with her dinner for the time being. Though that was kind of hard with how flamboyant the two were with their hatred for each other.
For some reason, Kurumi had decided to cook a shoe for her husband... weird... Anyway, said man was starting to complain about it and hitting the table with his palms, "Hey! Hey!"
His wife disregarded him and continued to smile at the two teens, "How is it, Ku? Ka-chan?" Her sickly sweet smile then turned to Kuniharu, "Honey, there's seconds for you too!"
"No thank you! I bet it's just the other shoe!"
"Here you go!" She presented him with a completely different shoe that didn't match the one he was currently eating. Just like he had said. Pretty sure she did it just to spite him.
"That's not even from the same pair!" Akari was watching them like it were a tennis match. Meanwhile, her psychic friend was eating his dinner not batting an eye at the argument. After all, this was really starting to get on his nerves. Why were his parents like this? Case and point, his father slides up to him holding out his shoe meal. "Kusuo, do me a favor and transform this into a steak, would you?"
Kusuo sighed and continued to eat, not even glancing at him. Akari raised an eyebrow at him and mentally asked her friend, 'Why does he actually think you'd help him?'
'Who knows.' Saiki blankly answered, not willing to do anything for his father. After all, the pathetic man was only growing to be more pitiful each time Kusuo did something for him. He was much like a spoiled child in that regard.
Taking his silence for Kusuo taking sides, Kuniharu started to rage, "So, you're taking your mom's side? That food on your plate was bought with the money I earned by licking my boss' boots!"
There was a moment of silence between them as they processed what Kuniharu had just admitted. Finally, Kusuo spoke up(without using his mouth, of course), "Wow, so you actually like the taste of shoes?"
Kuniharu grumbled to himself before starting to furiously eat his meal, "Screw it! I'll eat it anyway! Yuck, this stinks! What's with this smell? Geez!"
"It's a shoe, dummy."
Kusuo's mother then came over to her son and held one of his hands in her own. She sported a closed-eyed smile as sparkles seemed to radiate off of her. "Ku, your powers aren't meant to be wasted on something like that. You should use your powers to help those in need or to reward people who are nice!" Those sparkles quickly dimmed as her smile took on a more menacing appearance, "You should also use them to punish your dad."
'Your mom can be terrifying.' Akari mentally commented while shivering slightly. Sure, she had never been on the receiving end of her monstrous dark side, but she has witnessed it far too much. She was just grateful that Kurumi loved her too much to accidentally scare her off.
Kurumi then looked over to see that her husband had grabbed Kusuo's plate and greedily started to gobble it up. Proving just how scary she could be with her sudden mood swings. "How dare you eat Ku's food, you son of a bitch! We're taking this outside!"
'I could stop them whenever I want to,' Kusuo said with a tone on his voice was on the verge of being an actual emotion, 'but this is their problem to solve.'
Akarki slumped down in her seat, as she thought about how her friends' parents have been like this for a year. 'I'm kind of glad my parents aren't like this...' She didn't know what she would do if her own parents had fought like this. Then again, they would have to be around each other enough to actually fight. Sadly, much like Akari, her father didn't see her mother that much due to her work. Though it's always been like that. So they've all grown used to it, she supposed.
'Huh? Coffee jelly.' Saiki commented as he looked down at the sweet treat and ignored how his mother started to toss around his father. 'It's actually not that bad. It takes the rich, robust scent and flavor of coffee and condenses them into a single sublime package. If you add a splash of milk, you'll have a whole new experience on your hands.'
'You find amazement in the littlest of things.' Akari mentally commented towards the other teen as she idly finished off her bowl of rice.
Kusuo's eyes narrowed behind his green-tinted glasses as he glanced at her from the corner of his eye, 'Are you saying that you don't like it?'
Akari shrugged her shoulders, 'I'd much rather have regular coffee, you know that.'
The psychic brushed her comment off and continued to indulge himself in his coffee jelly. 'Something this decadent should be illegal. But I'm not complaining.'
Suddenly, Kuniharu flew through the air and collided with Kusuo, effectively knocking his coffee jelly out of his reach. Though Kusuo quickly improvised and saved his bite. Kuniharu stared at him for a moment and panicked, "Wow, is the jelly that good? Forget about that! We've got bigger issues! Look at what your mom has become!"
"Stop running, you coward!" Kurumi had suddenly turned into a demon, ready to tear into her husband and most likely cause him quite a bit of pain.
"You have to stop her, Kusuo! She's no longer the mother you once knew! Do it! Exorcise the demon inside of her!"
Akari used her power to transform into a shadow to avoid the table that Kurumi had picked up to throw at Kuniharu. For some reason, Kurumi was freakishly strong. So Akari kept to the shadows to make sure that she didn't get caught in the crossfire.
"There's no escape! I'll crush you like an ant!"
Kuniharu screamed in fear and prepared himself for the ultimate pain from the table that was thrown at him. Though he cracked his eye open when he realized that he had yet to be hurt by his wife. The table to harmlessly floating in front of him, even the food still on it was still stuck to it in perfect condition.
'These two are such a handful. I wish I didn't have to step in to stop another pointless fight.' Kusuo said in annoyance. Though Akari knew that he cared a bit more than he would admit.
"So, now you're on your dad's side?" Kurumi's sweet voice asked, her demonic features completely gone now. "That's it! I hate you too! I hate both of you!"
Kuniharu agreed with that sentiment, "Fine, I hate you too!"
Even if they tried to put as much hatred into their words, Akari and Kusuo knew better than to believe what his parents were saying. 'How did they forget that their son is a psychic?' Akari asked as her physical form started to put itself back together back in her seat next to Kusuo. She knew that these fights were basically a shame, since Kusuo kind of likes to complain to her about it. It must be so horrible to watch these two weirdos fight but hearing their contradicting thoughts. How troublesome.
So as Akari finished up the last of her meal, Kusuo used shared telepathy to fix whatever mess this was. She didn't pay much attention to it, seeing as she was preoccupied in her own mind listing off the chores she would have to do once she got home. Mindlessly, she grabbed her finished plates to start cleaning them. Even if Kurumi had constantly said that Akari wouldn't have to do something like this, she really didn't want to seem like a burden. So helping clean up was something that she always did if she stayed for a meal or something similar.
'I swear, dealing with normal people is such a pain.' Kusuo said after finally getting his parents to realize that they were just lying to each other and themselves.
'Facts,' Akari giggled and dried off her dishes. Even if she wasn't really listening to the Saikis go on and on about their love for each other, she did notice the murderous aura that started to suffocate the house. She glanced over to see that Kusuo's mother had taken his coffee jelly from him. That's a big oopsie. Like the biggest oopsie you could ever make if you were hoping to live another day. No one takes coffee jelly from the Saiki Kusuo. That being said, in his anger, Kusuo glowed in blue flames before every window in the house exploded.
Akari jumped slightly at that, but overall, kept her composer. An outburst like that from Kusuo was somewhat rare and a tad bit surprising, but she was used to it. After knowing him for some years, she had witnessed plenty of his accidents from when he was younger. Though it wasn't like this was an accident, she didn't think.
She dried off her hands on a towel and grabbed her school bag from the floor. "I should go, Otōsan will probably want me home now." She offhandedly said, not really waiting for a reply from the now love-sick couple who were still dealing with the broken windows. Well, the two of them were more like freaking out about the damage while simultaneously trying to reignite their love for each other. It was sickeningly sweet and funny at the same time. Seeing them blubber around telling Kusuo to fix everything while trying to make up for lost time with each other and their love. "Thanks for the food, Mrs. Saiki. See you tomorrow, Ku-kun."
Kusuo nodded his head in acknowledgment, 'bye.'
With that Akari exited the Saiki household and made the short walk across the road to her house. One of the bigger perks of her power was that she had no need for keys. Being a shadow allowed her to slip her way into any room because she could easily slip through cracks under doors or through windows. Which is good because she tends to forget her keys to her house. Just like now. So she melted away into a dark shadow and quickly slipped through the small crack under the door and reformed on the other side.
Once she entered her home, she found her father lounging on the couch munching on some dessert he must have made earlier. His blue eyes flickered across the screen which was playing a cooking show that he was obsessed with. He had yet to notice that she was even there, though it's not like she made her presence known at all.
Akari quietly slipped off her shoes and walked into the living room to stand behind the couch and her father. "Otōsan," she said in her small, breathless voice which caused her father to jump nearly five feet in the air. She ignored his screech and walked over to take a seat next to him. "I'm home."
Getting over his shock at being scared by his daughter, stars started to spark in giddiness. "Oh, sunshine!" He exclaimed in greeting before glomping his oldest child with a bone-crushing hug. Yamato certainly had the strength of a python. Come to think of it, he was probably stronger than the monstrous snake. Despite that, Akari was quite used to his hugs that were more like a vice. So he wouldn't accidentally kill her by strangulation.
Her father is a very excitable man. He always has a smile on his face for no apparent reason. The former chef could find joy in anything and everything and always had an aura of happiness around him. Even being in the same room as he could brighten up someone's day. Akari supposed that's why her parents got along so well. Her mother was the complete opposite of that, always with a stern frown, crinkle in her forehead, and a no-nonsense attitude. She didn't inspire happiness like her husband, like at all. Though they balanced each other out in a very nice way. Opposites attract after all!
"Did you get all your work done? Oh, of course, you did!" He instantly gushed and basically throttled Akari around who was still in his clutches.
She just sighed tiredly and melted out of his arms which left him hugging himself. She reformed herself on another chair in the living room with a raised eyebrow. "Yes, I got my work done, and I already ate at Ku-kun's."
It didn't seem possible, but Yamato's eye sparkled even brighter. Akari nearly had to squint her eyes at the sight of her father. Though she should have expected this, her father always got this way when she mentioned her friend.
You see, Yamato had this idea in this head that she and Kusuo were going to get married in the future. You would think that a father would not just willingly ship his daughter with a boy. Though could you blame him?! Akari is such a reserved girl and has no real friends up until meeting our main man Saiki Kusuo. The first friend that she ever had and he was such a well mannered young man(Oh, if only he knew). So sue him if he wanted his daughter to marry him. I mean, who knows when she might make another friend or a love interest!
Akari rolled her eyes at his behavior. She didn't need to have telepathy to know what her father was thinking. Why he was so infatuated with the idea of her and Kusuo becoming a couple was unknown to her. She knew he got the idea because he was her only friend and just so happened to be of the opposite sex. Though just because he was the opposite sex that didn't mean she had to be interested in him.
Still, there was nothing going on between the two super-powered teens. Nothing at all! The two of them were perfectly content with just tolerating each other while helping to keep as much attention off each other as they can. They had been friends for so long that they had mutually agreed to help each other out when they needed. A mutual benefit to their relationship which is really the only reason that they are friends. It's not like there was anything in the summary that might indicate otherwise. So don't look at it.
Anyway, back with the father-daughter duo, Yamato eagerly looked at his daughter with his bright blue eyes. "So, your day was good then?"
Akari pursed her lips, "normal as usual, nothing special."
"Well, that's good!" He beamed, "now you best head to bed, getting a good night's rest is always important!"
The inky-haired teen hummed and stood up from her seat. She placed a gentle goodnight kiss on her father's cheek before heading up to her room. After yet another boring and quiet day, the living shadow was more than ready to curl up under her covers in the dark. The highlight of her day.
