章節 163: Chapter 163: The Sinister Mirror

The story is simple.

It's not much different from other supernatural events, except for the mysterious death of her parents, leaving only her and her brother, Tim Russell, who was committed to a mental hospital, alive.

According to the statements at the time, it was Tim Russell, the one who was committed, who shot and killed their parents. However, Kelly Russell tells a different story.

She suspects that all the events originated from an antique mirror. It was because of this mirror that her family was plunged into an irreversible tragedy.

Kelly Russell believed her father was controlled in mind and body by this evil antique mirror, abusing his wife, her mother, and ultimately killing her.

She and her brother, Tim Russell, survived because their father, preparing to kill them, briefly regained his sanity thanks to his strong willpower and handed the gun to her brother, Tim Russell…

Unfortunately, the simple story lacks the most crucial link; the whereabouts of the antique mirror are unknown.

At the time, York didn't pay much attention to it, but ultimately, at Kelly Russell's behest, he shared the most important knowledge with her.

To expel a demon, one must first find its pattern or gather sufficient and complete evidence to warrant intervention by the church or himself, not just through verbal accounts…

"So, you've found something substantial this time?"

Recalling that she hadn't visited for a long time, York closed his eyes and immersed his consciousness into the real-time 3D map, looking at the document bag in Kelly Russell's hands, his interest piqued.

"Father York."

When a gentle reminder sounded beside him, York opened his eyes and looked towards the source of the voice.

Compared to the 3D map, Kelly Russell, though baby-faced, appeared very professional in her neat suit, like a true white-collar worker.

As the saying goes, clothes make the man, and York felt the same; if he wore different clothes, probably no one would dare approach him.

"Kelly?"

Looking at Kelly Russell, York feigned surprise.

Kelly Russell nodded slightly, shaking the document bag in her hand as she sat down.

"Father York, didn't you say that if you were to take action, you would need relevant evidence? I've brought it!"

York's eyes slightly raised in interest as he continued the act, "The antique mirror?"

Kelly nodded, "This document bag contains all the evidence I've gathered recently. It took a lot of effort."

Saying this, Kelly looked at the priest, handing over the document bag to him.

"Father, please see if this evidence is enough for you to take action."

Somehow, Kelly felt a bit uneasy inside, as the antique mirror had taken her family, her childhood, and what she desired most was revenge.

For revenge, she came to the Pluto Church, becoming a devout believer.

For revenge, she had specially investigated, finding that some believers in the Pluto Church had experienced supernatural events like hers, but she wasn't as fortunate to receive the priest's help.

For revenge, she remembered and prepared for eleven years, and now she finally tracked down the mirror's whereabouts. The priest before her was the key link.

In a short moment, Kelly's breathing became heavier, echoing in York's ears.

Feeling Kelly's emotions, York picked up the document bag, offering comfort, "If it can be proven that the mirror possesses supernatural powers, I will naturally take action. Don't doubt that."

Hearing this, Kelly exhaled, releasing the pressure and emotions inside her, her expression returning to calm as she watched the priest open the document bag and take out the first document: "I've found through investigation that in the last four centuries, 45 people have been associated with this antique mirror…"

Listening to Kelly's introduction, York saw the recorded events, including the victims, starting with the first.

"I don't know who was the first to come into contact with the mirror, but the earliest person I found dates back to 1754 in London…"

York followed the introduction, looking at the first person Kelly found, an English Earl.

"...After he acquired the mirror and hung it above the fireplace, the Earl died in the fireplace in 1755, burned beyond recognition. Before his estate was divided, his butler claimed to have seen the Earl in the mirror…"

Kelly paused, watching the priest turn to the second page, then continued: "In 1864, an American railroad magnate purchased the mirror. At the time, the magnate weighed over 300 pounds…"

York quickly saw a photo of the railroad magnate, indeed very fat, with a mirror placed beside him.

"Unlike the Earl, he placed the mirror in a ballroom in Atlanta and became extremely thin within a few months,"

York also saw a photo of the railroad magnate a few months later, his figure had halved in size.

"A few weeks later, he was found dead in his home…"

Kelly paused again, watching the priest turn to the third page, and continued:

"After the magnate's death, the mirror's whereabouts became unknown until it reappeared in 1904 in a lady's possession. She hung the mirror in her private bathroom and was found dead in the bathtub by her niece two weeks later, under increasingly bizarre circumstances…"

Listening to this, York saw the related photo, a horrifying image of a naked woman lying in a bathtub, indeed looking dreadful.

"The cause was death by thirst, dehydration!"

Dying of thirst in a bathtub full of water? York squinted, thinking of hallucinations.

With a plan in mind, York continued to the next page, and Kelly's voice resonated just then.

"In 1943, the mirror ended up with a family in Wisconsin. One day, their neighbors heard agonizing screams and loud bangs and called the police,

The police found the children drowned in a sealed tank, the only surviving housewife with crushed legs, a broken left arm, and six broken ribs,

The husband, on the other hand, had broken all his bones with a hammer, finally striking his own head to death, with only his right hand holding the hammer remaining intact…"

Listening to Kelly's immersive voice, York remained expressionless, continuing to the next page.

"In 1955, the mirror's owner starved to death in his bedroom.

In 1965, the mirror was hung in a bank lobby in San Diego. Soon after, the bank's cashier locked the manager in the vault, and she herself bit into a live electric wire, dying.

In 1975, the mirror's female owner, Mary, died from a miscarriage and massive bleeding at home, eerily having pulled out all her teeth…"

The voice stopped abruptly, and York turned to the last document, where he saw a photo of Kelly Russell, her brother, and a family portrait.

With heavy breathing, Kelly's voice followed.

"In 2002, the mirror came into the possession of the Russell family. Two weeks later, the parents died under mysterious circumstances, leaving two surviving children, the sister growing up alone, and the brother committed to a mental hospital"
