Yuugi wasn't blind. He was behind the counter, and even though he didn't track much in the language, he heard Masika's translations. He also spoke to Atem. He had Anzu right behind him, and she was tracking it all too, probably even as good as Masika.
This was . . . cruel. Usually, he was the first to make someone feel better. Especially since Masika believed it was his own kids, he really should be over there, trying something out. Anzu would be too. But? Just like these kids were getting over their grief of losing their parents from another dimension, his Hikaru.
His bright, shining spotlight he created with Anzu had disappeared three months ago. No body. No trace. One minute he was in a crib, and the next thing, he was gone from all existence.
No one that hadn't been involved in some way with the god's game had any idea about Hikaru's existence! Even the pictures they had to remember him by couldn't be found. All his clothes. Everything they bought for him. The room was just empty of him.
Completely empty, like someone was trying to undo a mistake. Not a single word was spoken about it. Atem tried many times to make some kind of contact to a goddess to help figure out what was happening. He even shouted several times too for any kind of help.
Hikaru was just gone. Gone forever. And now? He had to watch another him's version of their kids. Deal with their grief. It was so twisted!
Thank goodness Atem and Masika were taking charge with Jounouchi. Yuugi didn't want to say a word to them yet.
Bastet came toward him again, hopping on the counter in front of them. "So many corners to cover, and I am but one. Sorry. Now that the children seem to be taken care of, it's time to tell you about your Hikaru, but you must remember what I was saying earlier, Yuugi. The difference between Pharaoh and gods."
"Glad . . . he's getting shoved into a conversation," Yugi said. "He wasn't a god, he was mine, so where is he?!"
Bastet's tail curled with uncertainty. "I have been around humans way too much." Her tail gestured toward Jounouchi. "Sekhmet and I had plans. We had wanted to create a pair of wonderful gods of dark and light with ourselves. We wished to create wonderful new beings that would even allow itself to be an avatar to be used in future fights. A human involved in a fight against any demon coming back. Any of the spirits involved in it's creation could come back to it."
"Then they are you?" Anzu asked.
"They were supposed to be. We felt the godlike energy from them. At the end of their payment, Masika had given away our secret. Still, they took care of them all the same. Yet, we were then casted out and never supposed to see them again. Even Horakhty said no."
"So you created other versions of yourselves, and brought them to this dimension," Yugi called her out. "Against Horakhty too. That's going to be severe."
"Yes. Except. No," Bastet said toward him. "Horakhty is kinder about friendship, so just really prattle on about how you can't just seperate a brother from his sister."
"None of this has to do with my Hikaru!" Yuugi yelled. "What business does this have to do with us? Watching some other form of you, we aren't babysitters to you!"
"I swear, get wishes with Isis and all appreciation of other gods is thrown out the window like barbarians," Bastet said. "I am running out of time, with many things to explain. They will come and they will steal the children back to their original dimension much quicker, unless you mention the bond and loss of your own child! We need you to mention that bond, or all is lost!"
"You want a bond?" Atem swung his coat. "You? You took Hikaru away, for an excuse of a bond? Only so that you can stay in control of the creation you created. You don't see them as children, they are mere avatars of future battles to you. We won't say anything. Those children belong in their own dimension, to deal with their own grief."
"But you don't get it!" Bastet hissed at Atem, trying to claw at him. "They were supposed to be all of that, but do you feel anything? Gods do not simper, weep, or express so much emotion, do they? I do not know how it happened, but when they were conceived they were changed, and not by us!" She meowled again loudly. "I don't know how they formed! But they are not just Yugi's children!" She scratched his hand. "They are not part of the Pharoah Atem, they are the children of the whole Pharoah of Atem and the full First Tear of Ra!"
Um? "Did Yugi join with Atem in the other dimension?" Anzu had to ask.
A lion appeared in the room and Bastet went straight toward it, jumping on her head.
Sekhmet. She glared at them all. "Don't cast blame. We were tricked too. Bastet wanted to make things better by giving them back to their proper dimension. It isn't the proper time, but accuracing with running was never going to happen."
"Cats. Once again, cats messing around with time," Atem couldn't help to say. "Please return these children where they belong, and correct the mistakes you have made in this one against Horakthy."
"They wouldn't listen, Sekhmet. I'm running out of time," Bastet insisted. "Thank you for the distraction but I don't know if it will make a difference. They won't mention Hikaru's soul."
"I will mention it!" Yuugi yelled. "He's my son, and I want him back!"
"This is the second to the last Yugi and Atems last request, for you to take them!" Bastet called out one more time.
Before the children disappeared against Jounouchi.
Isis appeared in the Gameshop. "Naughty cats."
"Can you please restore my son?" Yuugi asked her. "Th-they took him away for some leverage of bond to some reborn cat gods they created! Please?"
Isis was quiet against Yuugi's request. "Naughty, naughty cats."
"Bastet wanted to be nice," Sekhmet said toward Isis as she bowed her head. "The second to the last Parts of Atem stated this as their wish. A god cannot go against another god."
Isis didn't look any more convinced.
"They are not happy with you, Isis," Bastet purred toward her. "That's why they gave us their last wish. They do not trust you anymore."
"I am sure," Isis said back to them with a laugh. "I am so sure that they would state their trust in the ones who separated them all from each other in the first place. Even these two have shown their discontent toward you ever since you arrived."
"Because they don't understand," Bastet insisted. "The others do. They will not move, unless this is granted."
"It's unheard of, and they will get over it," Isis insisted. "Stealing Hikaru from this dimension to push him earlier will only give a little extra time. Everyone is going the same way. You did not accomplish anything except add more grief to their lives again. Leave them be!"
"Not against Yugi and Atem, it is their last wish!" Bastet yelled.
Isis glared at the cats. "Getting braver, aren't you? Getting more allies again." She sighed and pressed her hands together. "There is no need to keep this up." She smiled at Yugi and Atem. "Please. You can just state it. You are putting yourselves through the pain of living instead of the pleasure of becoming who you are meant to be. You can be gods now. No more pain or suffering from this living space. Just say 'take this dimension' and find eternal peace. Find peace and accept this. Make your final goodbyes. There is no need to stay any longer."
"Huh?" Why did that sound like Bastet was trying to make them . . . want to die?
"Gods have no human children," Bastet said toward her. "Their human children are here. How did they have children? Why did you cover up the fact they had no power? How did Sil cover Masika in the Boundary Between This Life and the Next if she were but human?"
"The children have been removed back to where they belong," Isis answered. "No more tricks. This conversation is over."
"The children can never go where they belong," Bastet said toward her. "They were taken over ten thousand years ago from this dimension, weren't they?"
What? "Ten thousand years?" Yugi questioned. "How is that possible?"
"It was the only time you were joined together," Bastet said to them. "Joined together with the Tears of Ra. You never met in the other time of creation. Remember the song you were gifted about your first meeting?"
"The fish story?" Anzu asked.
"Yes. The fish story," Bastet said plainly. "Your fight against Set changed everything for monsters and that was the end of the story. Where were the children that would come along in a marriage? Your descendants? It can't ever be mentioned. Instead, the First Tear of Ra was always said to be unburdened by birth. Why make that so prominently known?"
"Wait?" Tea held her finger up. "Um? Wait."
"You said that was our past life," Yugi said. "You didn't say it was from another dimension."
"Yes! Finally. Yes, please stand firmer against Isis before she ends your life. No matter how much power you will get when you become a god, this moment cannot be relived! All you can do is be angry at her for eternity for not granting your last wishes! Trust me. Anger as a god doesn't go away, it's best to patch it up quickly before you risk becoming demon. So?"
Yuugi stared as he saw himself, glowing, right next to a glowing Atem too. Both of them were wearing modern day clothing right next to Bes, the god of war they met during the god games.
Okay. Things were getting a little more interesting now.
