章節 2715: Chapter 1917 U: Transcendence of Major Events (Six)_1

In the dazzlingly lit grand hall, a row of empty chairs shimmers under the overhead spotlights, the black leather seats reflecting a cool sheen. Suddenly, a beam of light illuminates the front of the hall and a figure in a purple bodysuit and green vest appears within the glow.

He picks up the microphone and clears his throat, calling out to the seats filled with phantom images, "Hello everyone, welcome to Battleworld - New Earth! I am your observational mode host, Owen. You can also call me the Observer, and some of you here are old friends of mine."

"However, that's not the focal point of today, our main event will be welcoming a team of fearless Duelists, to challenge our first game!"

With his exclamation, a massive light screen pops up directly in front of the chairs. The moment an image appears on the screen, a glint of golden light flashes through Owen's eyes, soon replaced by a disappointing expression.

He lowers his arm, putting down the microphone, and says, "Heavyweight players are coming, but it's a pity the game started too quickly and there's no audience."

After saying that, he snaps his fingers listlessly, and all the lights go out, leaving only the huge light screen. Owen drops the microphone, sits cross-legged where he stands, and watches the scenery appearing on the screen with great interest.

As Owen watches, the scene on the screen gradually emerges. It's a very ordinary log cabin. The door is pushed open, and a female figure walks in. Seeing the already present occupants of the room, she releases a surprised cry as if taken aback.

The girl who had just pushed the door to enter quietly observes the three people in the room. It appears that they must be her matched teammates this time.

The man on the far left is wearing an ill-fitting suit, but his shirt is wrinkled, his green hair dishevelled and clearly unkept, and his face is covered with a grungy Joker mask. His eyes, glinting darkly through the dark holes of the mask, are too obscure to make out clearly.

He leans against the wall with his arms crossed, one leg bent at the knee, the sole of his foot against the wall behind him. His arms tighten around his body, appearing rather restrained. His already ill-fitting suit gets bunched up at the creases of his arms, forming several more wrinkles.

The man in the middle is wearing a white lab coat and glasses. He looks very scholarly, like a highly skilled doctor one would see in a reputable hospital clinic. He keeps glancing sidelong at the bizarre man in the suit next to him, a strange fervor in his eyes.

When the girl sees the last woman, it's as if she's seen her saving grace. She cries out, "Captain Marvel! Oh, thank God you're here!"

The blonde woman called Captain Marvel looks at the girl before her with some confusion, asking, "Who are you? Do you know me?"

"I'm Katy, we have met before. Don't you remember? Oh wait, you're not the Captain Marvel from our cosmos!"

The girl seemed to just react, clutching her mouth with an embarrassed smile. Captain Marvel seemed a bit displeased with her exposing her identity. After all, even the stupidest person could figure out that the later her identity is revealed under the circumstances of having doppelgangers and observers, the better.

So when Captain Marvel, Carol, came here, she deliberately didn't wear her uniform. She also tied up her normally loose blonde hair, changed her eyebrows with an eyebrow pencil.

Carol's facial features aren't particularly distinctive; she's more of a generic beauty. After a slight makeup adjustment, even her teammates said she looked like a stranger. Even though the disguise could only last so long, if she could deceive one person, that was still one less to worry about.

Unexpectedly, the young girl in front of her had dealings with her in another cosmos, and recognized her at first glance. Carol could only sigh, brushing the hair off her forehead, and said, "Come on in; the game is about to start."

Katy stuck out her tongue, didn't turn around, but reached back to close the door. The green-haired odd man and the doctor both looked up at her. She suddenly felt a chill, as if her soul had been seen through.

"We still have a few minutes, to avoid not knowing what to call each other during the game, let's introduce ourselves. I'm Carol; you can also call me Captain Marvel."

Carol was cautious. Since her identity had been exposed anyway, she might as well bind the names Carol and Captain Marvel together, but she knew that Captain Marvel was not necessarily Carol; it was a little word game.

"Shiller, I don't have a title; you can call me Doctor." Shiller says with a smile.

"You're a doctor?" Carol asks, furrowing her brows.

"Yes, a surgeon." Shiller nodded.

"Why are you always staring at him? Do you know him?" Carol's gaze alternated between Shiller and the other man.

"No, this is the first time we meet, but I feel like he's familiar." Shiller looked back at the man leaning against the wall.

Could Shiller not recognize him? This was the Joker from some cosmos, but it wasn't just being the Joker that drew his attention. What was most familiar was the appearance of this Joker.

If he wasn't mistaken, in his home cosmos, the actor who played the Joker in this film was called Heath Ledger.
