章節 2623: Chapter 1839 Madman's Journey (Fifteen)_1

"This is not difficult to deduce," Greed sighed. "Creatures within the universe cannot observe the state of the universe from a higher perspective, Spider Man may not know that the time loop in his universe is caused by two universes getting stuck."

"Spider Man knows that the time in his world is being reset constantly. Although the time of our birth seems random to us, according to Spider Man, a local resident of this universe, the sign of the reset is the arrival of the Zombie Sentinel."

"So, resolving the Zombie Sentinel could be a good approach."

"There are two ways to resolve the Zombie Sentinel: either preventing him from infecting the Avengers or preventing him from going to another universe."

"But the latter is actually a false proposition, because if the Zombie Sentinel does not go, the Observer would throw other survivors over. His original intention is to prevent the zombie virus from spreading by creating a cycle between two universes."

"By the fourth reset, Spider Man had already removed the Zombie Sentinel's brain, but during the fifth reset, the Zombie Sentinel still threatened this universe. This means that simply removing the brain is useless, and it's highly likely that the Observer is meddling."

"So, there's only one method left. That is to find a way to prevent the Zombie Sentinel from infecting anyone in this universe."

"There was an additional clue during the fifth reset," Greed said with a frown. "That burst of static Tony heard on the emergency communication device might well have been the result of Spider Man's new research during the fifth reset time."

"In the end, Tony drew a pattern similar to an electroencephalogram. This indicates that the thing that came was a wave, and one of the areas of study of the Brain in a Jar involved brainwaves. I suspect this wave might prompt some reaction from the Zombie Sentinel's brain."

"So who will go for the sixth time?" Arrogant asked, sighing, "The first time it's you, the second time it's me, the third time it's Sloth, the fourth time it's Manipulation, the fifth time it's Gluttony, who's next?"

"We have no choice but to let that little guy go out for a breath of fresh air." Greed shook his head. "But you'd better persuade him not to chop Stark into pieces when he gets up there."

"You want him to go so soon?" Arrogant sounded somewhat worried. "He's not like Morbid. He would use all his power. At least in terms of force, he's the strongest."

"It's precisely to completely solve the cycle this time."

When Helen landed on the lawn, she rolled to avoid Spider Man who was also falling from the sky. Spider Man let out a cry, and Helen sighed.

"Oh, God, um, sorry, I shouldn't have pushed you," Spider Man said remorsefully, his neck wobbling. "It seems as if the portal has thrown us into an unfamiliar place."

"This is not a strange place."

Spider Man disregarded this statement, looking at the horizon and then saying, "Indeed, I can still see the Stark Building."

Helen followed his gaze, the logo of Stark Group was striking in the skyline. She finally turned over all the memories hidden deep in her memory.

So, she looked at Spider Man and said, "Listen, I'm not talking about this kind of familiarity. Do you remember that we've already investigated many clues in this universe?"

Spider Man looked at Helen blankly, not even sure what she was talking about. After a moment of thinking, Helen recalled what Doctor Schiller had told her.

Most ordinary people's memories are unstructured. They cannot precisely control the storage and deletion of memories. For them, memories are simply what they can remember or what they have forgotten.

But Helen, having spent so much time with Doctor Schiller, has adopted Schiller's mastery of psychic control due to the assimilating and evolving feature of her Doomsday devouring ability.

Instead of turning her memories into a high tower, she organized them into a system. Moreover, she turned all her myriad, complex abilities into a visual control system that she could switch on and off at will.

This made her control over memory and thought far superior to that of humans. So when she noticed something unusual about her memory, she was immediately able to recall the section of memory that had been added.

Doomsday had no such thing as subconscious, but her brain was still able to process fuzzy calculations and did not cram everything she saw into her memory bank.

When Schiller's memory is reset, the memory is thrown into the subconscious. He merely needs to send down one of his personality traits to fish it out. When Doomsday's memory is reset, the memory is casually thrown into the bin of fuzzy calculations.

Generally, Helen wouldn't bother to check the recycle bin. But when she was thrown over, her brain's system was messed up by Lucifer's plug-in.

Now her memory space was like an ocean of rubbish, and the reason she hadn't discovered the truth of the universe resets in all the previous cycles was that these memories hadn't surfaced back then.

It was only towards the end of the fifth rebirth that Helen glimpsed the strange memories that should not exist in her consciousness and discovered the truth about the previous resets.

Helen grabbed Spider Man's arm, made him squat down, shook him hard by the shoulders, and said, "Listen to me, Spider Man, we've experienced five resets in this universe. We picked up many clues along the way, I think we should be able to save the universe this time."

Seeing the serious look in Helen's eyes, Spider Man knew she wasn't joking. His spider-sense was hinting that something was off, but because it was not an intense sensation, he could not identify the source of danger.

Spider Man pulled Helen close and said, "Explain to me what this is all about, just give me the highlights."

"I won't bore you with the specifics, I'm just going to tell you that in these five resets, we've been after one lead: the possible survivor, Black Panther."

"During the latest reset, we found an important clue: Spider Man created an enigmatic brain in a vat, which might need the correct wavelength to operate."

"Now we know that Spider Man kept the brain in a vat inside a spaceship in Wakanda, so we don't need to rush to retrieve it, but we have to go find its key."

After Helen explained the general situation of this universe, Spider Man nodded to show he understood, but he still asked, "So where are we supposed to look for the key to the brain in a vat?"

Looking at Helen who was staring at him, Spider Man pointed at himself and had a sudden realization. He slapped his head and said, "Where indeed would I hide it?"

"If I had to guess, I'd say in a drawer in my bedroom. But that's usually for snacks and such...for something this critical...Okay, I do have a safe at Stark Building. There's no place more secure than there."

"We indeed should go to the Stark Building," Helen pondered. "We missed it during our previous attempts. There might be some crucial clues there."

"Where the hell are we?! What did you do to Shiller?!" Stark looked at Shiller and shouted angrily.

Shiller remained silent, just gazed at him for a moment, grabbed his umbrella knife, and turned to leave.

Stark's mind was a whirl of emotions, like a tightly wound cord. He hadn't felt this anxious since he returned from Afghanistan, but he couldn't pinpoint why. All he could do was to follow Shiller. When they arrived at an open space, Shiller transformed into a gray mist, lifting Stark up into it.

Stark jumped with fright, not knowing what Shiller was up to. He flailed in mid-air but Shiller paid him no mind and they soared towards Queens, New York.

When they landed on the roof of a residential building, Stark recognized the familiar sight. Looking around he said, "Isn't this Peter's house? But it seems different, these broken houses seem even older."

Shiller opened the rooftop door and headed down. Stark realized that it wasn't the familiar Doctor Shiller controlling the body, but a Shiller who was sparing with words and clearly ruthless. After he saw the murderous intent in Shiller's eyes, Stark decided to speak less.

Arriving on the fourth floor, Shiller used the gray mist to pick the lock of a door. Inside was a gruesome scene, body parts and blood were spread all over the room as if a beast had rushed in and devoured everyone there. This sight left Stark astounded.

His gaze immediately landed on a photograph in a frame. It was a group photo of Peter Parker, Mary Jane and Aunt May, all wearing bright smiles.

Without a doubt, Spider Man's family had been brutally murdered. Stark couldn't imagine Peter's grief. The anger made it almost impossible for Stark to breathe.

But Shiller ignored the blood all over the room, going straight into one of the bedrooms. Once he opened the door, he looked around and his eyes landed on a drawer in a desk.

He opened the drawer where a diary was tucked away quietly. As he opened the diary, there were notes by Peter Parker.

"Hello, stranger. I don't know who you are or how you got here. Maybe what the big spider was saying in my dreams is true, but it's not important.

Listen, I believe some of you have realized the abnormalities in this universe. Yes, the time in this universe is constantly being reset, with the same tragedies happening over and over...

If you are here, it means you have seen through all this and are willing to help. If you still have memories from before, you should have seen the first part of my plan."

But that's all just preparation. The real key is what comes next. I need you to do one thing for me--

After the next reset, when the Zombie Sentinel appears in the sky, use a special frequency to relay my brainwaves into its brain, allowing me to control it into committing suicide."
