As they approached the first site, an abandoned village nestled in a secluded valley, they moved with caution. The buildings were dilapidated, overgrown with vines and moss. But despite the eerie atmosphere, there was no immediate sign of cult activity.

"We need to check every building," Veronica said, her voice low. "They could be hiding anywhere."

They moved methodically, searching each house and barn. In one of the larger buildings, they found evidence of recent occupation, discarded food wrappers, a makeshift bedroll, and scattered papers covered in strange symbols.

"This was definitely used by the cult," Milan said, examining the papers. "But it looks like they left in a hurry."

Veronica nodded. "Let's gather what we can and move to the next site. We need to stay one step ahead of them."
